Joshua Jurgens Obituary

Joshua David Jurgens, 25, of Virginia, died Saturday, March 27, 2010, at Graham Hospital in Canton.
He was born Feb. 3, 1985, in Springfield, the son of David E. and Ann T. Robson Jurgens.
He is survived by his parents of Virginia; his twin sister, Jessica Jurgens of Beardstown; his paternal grandmother, Ellen Jurgens of Virginia; his maternal grandparents, Francis and Karolyn Robson of Jacksonville; and several aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Edward Jurgens; and a cousin, Megan Lounsberry.
Joshua was a member of St. Luke's Parish in Virginia. An avid St. Louis Cardinal fan, he enjoyed being read to, working on Lego projects with his father and especially spending time with his twin sister. Through his challenges, Joshua always maintained a sense of humor.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Luke's Catholic Church in Virginia, with burial at Walnut Ridge Cemetery in Virginia. The family will meet friends from 5:15-7 p.m. Monday at the Buchanan & Cody Funeral Home in Virginia where a prayer service will be held at 5 p.m. Monday. Memorial gifts are suggested to the Renaissance Care Center (300 Wing) in Canton. Friends are invited to share their memories online at www.buchanancody.com.

My thoughts and prayers are with your family during this time of loss. I have not you however, I was well acquainted with Josh--filling his pump on a regular basis for the past several years. I loved Josh's beautiful smile and his friendly "pats" he would give. I will miss seeing him. God be with you during this time.

To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.

Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."

It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man.

God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.

When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.

I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.

There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.

If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.

So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.

And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.

"The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters. He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.
Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the LORD for ever."
Psalm 23:1-6 King James Version Bible

Having laid down his earthly burdens, your son is now among the children of the risen Christ.
Have heart, old friend, for He is with you now and always. You shall never know a day that our Christ does not walk with you.

We pray for you, both Britt and I... reciting from the words spoken to Moses from the Lord our God:

The LORD bless thee, and keep thee:

The LORD make his face shine upon thee, and be gracious unto thee:

The LORD lift up his countenance upon thee, and give thee peace.

And they shall put my name upon the children of Israel, and I will bless
them.

In My Pocket

I have memories in my pocket.
They rattle among the change.

My memories of you are treasures I carry wherever I go.

They are stored in bits and pieces, parts of a beautiful whole
They give me comfort when I think I am alone.

Yes, I have memories in my pocket, like so much other stuff I keep there.

But of all the treasures I have, it’s the memories of you that are the most precious.

What a wonderful and inspirational person Josh was--all of our lives have been made richer and more meaningful by his determination and spirit. God now has one of his most beatiful angels back home with Him -- Josh will never be forgotten -- his zest for life and his courage will live on forever for those of us who had the joy of knowing him. Please give our beautiful girl, Jessie a BIG hug and kiss from Uncle Jim and Aunt Pat and tell her we are looking forward to getting back home and going to eat pizza with her.-- our love to all of you.
