Elinor Musgrave Obituary

Elinor E. Musgrave, 90, of Griggsville, passed away Saturday, June 4, 2011, at Eastside Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center in Pittsfield.

Elinor was born in rural Griggsville on Nov. 7, 1920, a daughter to Rhea M. and Agnes H. Bonnett Phillips. She married Loyd W. Musgrave on Oct. 12, 1940, in Eolia, Mo. Loyd preceded her in death on July 4, 1980.

In addition to being a homemaker and farm wife, Elinor worked for 22 years at Penstone Orchard in Griggsville. She was a member of the New Salem United Methodist Church and a member of the United Methodist Women, Pike County Home Extension and in earlier years she was a 4-H leader. She enjoyed sewing, embroidering, quilting, crafts, cooking and gardening. Elinor loved playing Bingo, working in and mowing her yard, gardening and attending the county fairs and watching her children show cattle.

Elinor is survived by her son, Melvin (Cathy) Musgrave of Griggsville; and daughters, Kathryn (Joe) Ballard of Springfield and Elizabeth "Betty" (Don) Toepke of Griggsville. Nine grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren survive in addition to several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Niebur Funeral Home in Pittsfield, with the Rev. Al Laird and the Rev. David Kelly officiating. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until time of service on Tuesday at the Niebur Funeral Home. Interment will be at West Cemetery in Pittsfield.
