Donald Cole Obituary

Donald Elmer Cole, 80, of Waverly, and formerly of Kincaid and Jacksonville, died Tuesday, July 6, 2010, at Jacksonville Convalescent Center.

He was born in Kincaid on Dec. 21, 1929, the son of William S. and Augusta (Warren) Cole.

Mr. Cole was a former member of Kincaid Baptist Church. He worked as a Barber in Kincaid, a coal miner, dance instructor, an auxiliary policeman in Virginia, and last as a laborer at a food-manufacturing factory. He loved bowling, fishing and playing Bingo with his family.

Surviving are three daughters, Julia and Bill Strubbe of Jacksonville, Annette and James Bate of Jacksonville and Sheri and Ray Marrow of Pryor, Okla.; two sons, Donnie and Cathy Cole of Franklin and Martin Cole of Jacksonville; a brother, John "Jack" and his wife Kay Cole of Taylorville; three sisters, Wilma Jean Jorgensen of Thayer, Edna Davis of Stonington and Barbara Coleman of Decatur; along with 17 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. One brother and four sisters preceded him in death.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Masterson Funeral Home in Kincaid. The Rev. Louis Kunz will officiate. Visitation will be held there one hour prior to services. Burial will follow at Horse Creek Cemetery in Pawnee.
