Kenneth Theobald Obituary

MYRTLE BEACH | Kenneth A. Theobald, 43, passed away unexpectedly Tuesday, May 19, 2009.

Kenneth was born April 12, 1966 at Maxwell Air Force Base in Montgomery, Alabama, a son of Pat Rookstool of Johnston, Iowa, and the late Arch Theobald. He lived in many cities, including Yokota AFB, Japan, where he met his beloved wife in High School. Kenneth graduated from West Iowa Tech Community College and went on to a career in Broadcast Engineeering, most recently as the Chief Engineer of WFXB-TV in Myrtle Beach. Kenneth was passionate about animal rights, a devoted father who could always be seen on the sidelines watching his children perform with the CFHS Marching Band, and loved playing golf; but most of all, loved to spend time with his family and friends.

Kenneth is survived by his wife, Ammy G. Theobald; his daughter, Mackenzie Siobhan Hadley-Theobald of Myrtle Beach; his son, Coby Michael Hadley-Theobald of Myrtle Beach; his step daughter, Ashlyn Nicole Mayes of Myrtle Beach; and his maternal grandmother, Dorothy Hutchinson of Sioux City, Iowa.

A memorial service will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, May 23, 2009 in the Chapel of McMillan-Small Funeral Home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Grand Strand Humane Society, 3241 10th Ave. Ext. N., Myrtle Beach, SC 29577 or Carolina Forest High School Band Boosters, c/o CFHS, 700 Gardner Lacy Rd., Myrtle Beach, SC 29579.

Memories and Condolences
for Kenneth Theobald

Not sure what to say?

May 18, 2010

I profusely appologize for my delayed condolances, but I've just learned about the loss of Ken this evening.

I'm in total shock, and can't help but to think of his loving family he left behind. My prayers and thoughts are with you.

Ken was a wonderful person, with a witty personality, easy to talk with and a great friend to hang out with. Thank you for wonderful memories, Ken.

God has you wrapped in his arms now, and we'll forever miss you.

My Name is Joell (Wolf) Onstad, and I am an old classmate of Ken's. First, I am so sorry for this extremely belated condolence to Ammy, Coby, Mackenzie and Ashlyn. I found out about Ken's passing just within the past 24 hours. My deepest thoughts and prayers are with all of you.

Ken was a very special man in my life. We both had alot of ups and downs with each other during our High School years, but always managed to keep each other in both of our thoughts and hearts. Ken you were a wonderful friend, kind, loving, funny, supportive and you will be deeply missed. I know that you are looking upon us all down here, and you are also with some old friends in the next life. So please give my love to Eddie (and I also send my love to you dear friend) - Have a drink on all the ones you left behind and I will toast one to you. Your absense will be greatly felt. Always, Joell

I wanted to send my sympathy to Ammy, Coby, and Mackezie. I knew Ken in high school at Yokota, he was a very kind, gentle, funny, loving and truly warm hearted man. I have numerous memories of him, and am in shock of his passing. I have been out of touch with all of my classmates, and just know heard of this tragic event.

He will always hold a special place in my heart and he will be truly missed.

My thoughts and prayers go out to his family. And again I am so sorry for the lateness of the condolence.

Ken if you are looking down - please feel my sorrow and also say hi to Eddie Doss (have a drink on us all from Yokota) Your memory will always live within all of us.

I love you so much dad. I'm so sorry that I didn't tell you that as much as I should have. I'll look after Kenzie, and make sure she doesn't kill me. She can maim me every now and again. I hope you can feel all the love that we can feel down here. I'm never gonna forget that time we went out minigolfing when the girls went out to see So You Think You Can Dance. That's always been one of my favorite memories, and I'll live on in your memory, everything I do, I do for you. You are, always have been, and always will be my best friend.

I just got back in touch with Ken after many years. I remember the time early on in high school when he dared me to punch him in the face. I don't know why he did, but I took him up on his dare. He was such a good sport! He will be sorely missed!

Ammy, I wanted to share what I remember about Ken when we were all in Yokota together. Ken was so much fun! We always wanted to have him around; he got along with everyone and was forever the peacemaker. I remember his gentle, friendly, easy smile that always made everyone else with him smile as well. He is, hands down, one of the sweetest people I have ever met. In remembering you and what a great friend you were to Jeannie, I am glad that you and Ken had the chance to be a part of each other's lives. Please know that he will be missed, and I am terribly sorry for your loss, but I have many very fond memories of Ken and it will always make me smile to think of them. Much love to you and your family, you remain in my thoughts and prayers.

I am so sorry to here of Theobald passing - can't ever remember calling him Ken. I did once call him Sweetpea - he was late (again) for a tech meeting at Gateway and I gave him the ole 'Mornin Sweetpea'. That elicited a grunt from him. I hope the family can take strength that can be found in our Lord at times like this. (I'm not a religious guy but I know he is there to lean on) Mike Schmith
