Martha Shepard Obituary

Martha Anne Ricks Shepard, 77, passed away Tuesday, February 1, 2011 at Grand Strand Regional Medical Center.
Mrs. Shepard was born February 16, 1933 in Marion, South Carolina, a daughter of the late Thomas B. Ricks and the late Ruby Bartley Ricks.
Mrs. Shepard was a graduate of Marion High School and was employed in the Radiology Department at Grand Strand Regional Medical Center prior to her retirement. She was a longtime member of Ocean View Baptist Church in Myrtle Beach. Mrs. Shepard was the recipient of the 1991 Frist Humanitarian Award, an award for individuals who demonstrate extraordinary concern for the welfare and happiness of patients and their community.
Her brother, Phillip Ricks, and her son, Zach Shepard, Jr., preceded her in death in addition to her parents.
Survivors include her children, Fran Shepard of North Myrtle Beach, Mike Shepard and his wife, Kim, of Huntsville, Ala., Terry Shepard and his wife, Sharon, of Rogers, Ark.; her brothers, Joby Ricks of Mullins, Marvin Ricks of Marion; and her grandchildren, Blake, Lexie, and Luke Shepard.
A funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, February 5, 2011 at Ocean View Baptist Church with Dr. Steven C. Cromer, the Rev. Everett Douglas, and Dr. J. Kirk Lawton, Jr. officiating.
Burial will follow at Oceanwoods Memorial Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, February 4, 2011, at McMillan-Small Funeral Home.
Memorials may be sent to Ocean View Baptist Church, 7300 North Kings Hwy, Myrtle Beach, SC 29572.
