Eloise Spivey Obituary

Eloise Elliott Spivey, age 80, went to be with the Lord Friday, March 19, 2010 at her home following an illness.
Mrs. Spivey was born January 21, 1930 in Tabor City, NC a daughter of the late Ambrose Vernon and Mamie Ward Elliott. She was a member of Loris First Baptist Church where she served in the nursery, taught children, youth and adult classes and shared her beautiful voice in the adult choir. She shared her life with children through Child Evangelism Fellowship for many years and retired from the Horry County School District after 25 years of service working with technology in local elementary and middle schools. She was an active member of the auxiliary of the Gideons International and was a former chaplain at Loris Community Hospital. Mrs. Spivey was predeceased by her brothers: A.V. Elliott, Jr., Thomas Elliott, and Heines Elliott, her sister: Ophelia Glover, and a grandson: Duane Hardee.
She is survived by her husband of almost 60 years: Earl J. Spivey, Sr., five children: Dr. Patricia Piver and her husband Swain, Amy Hardwick and her husband Herman, Rev. Earl J. Spivey, Jr. and his wife Lauretta, Scarlet Ellis and her husband Dale, and Jean Ellen Lumston and her husband Rev. Jerry Lumston, one brother: Ben Elliott, sixteen grandchildren, eighteen great grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild.
The family will receive friends Sunday, March 21, 2010 from 4-6 PM at Ward Funeral Home in Loris.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Monday, March 22, 2010 from Loris First Baptist Church with Dr. Larry Turner officiating. Burial will follow in the Twin City Memorial Gardens.
The family would like to give a special thanks to Mrs. Spivey's caregivers: Donna Suggs, Marie Cheatle, and Mary Small and to Dr. Keith Harkins and Dr. Gavin Leask.

I will always remember "Miss Eloise's" beautiful voice in the choir at Loris First Baptist Church. She was my Sunday School teacher in 1973-74, when I was a junior at Loris High School.

Amy and Family, Truely Heaven has welcomed another of his precious children Home. I lost my Mother 5 years ago, she was honored to call Mrs. Eloise her Dear Friend and I am sure they are both at the Right Hand Of Jesus now. There are no words to comfort you now, but rest assured that your Faith in our Savior and Time will turn some of your sadness into Beautiful Memories.
