Mr. Lucian Barney Todd, Jr., 58, passed away Saturday, October 8, 2011 at Loris Community Hospital following an extended illness. Born on February 10, 1953 in Loris, S.C., he was the son of the late Mr. Lucian Barney "L.B." Todd, Sr. and the late Mrs. Easel Graham Todd.
He was a 1975 graduate of Clemson University where he received a Bachelor of Science degree in Animal Science. Upon graduation he returned to his hometown of Loris and joined his father in expanding the operation of the family farm. He also taught part-time at Horry-Georgetown Technical College and was instrumental in helping to establish the Horry County Produce Market to help area farmers market their products.
After an early retirement Mr. Todd still enjoyed his passion of making things grow, spending many enjoyable hours researching, propagating and planting his flower gardens.
Mr. Todd is survived by his wife, Sylvia J. Todd; his sons, Lucian Barney "Trey" Todd, III, Ross Dalton Todd, and James Howard "Jamie" Todd. He also leaves behind the lights of his life, his four grandchildren, Taylor, Emma, Georgia and R.J.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, October 11, 2011 at Hardwick Memorial Chapel with committal services following at Cherry Hill Cemetery. The Reverend Mack Hutson will officiate services. Visitation will be Monday, October 10, 2011 from 6 until 8 p.m. at Hardwick Funeral Home. barney will be missed greatly i still picture him sitting there laughing and talking and how everytime i would see him he would always call me baby faye cause i look just like my mom if there is anything i can do just let me know
