Paula Mulloy Obituary

Paula Jo Mulloy, Paula Jo Mulloy, 48, has gone home to be with the Lord on February 5, 2010. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, February 9, 2010 at Stonegate Fellowship in Midland, with Reverend Patrick Payton officiating. Visitation will be from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m., Monday, February 8, 2010 at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home in Midland. Paula was a loved and cherished mother, daughter, wife and sister, not to mention a great friend to all those who knew her. She was a wonderful daughter-in law, sister-in-law and aunt. She fought a courageous battle with cancer for nearly seven years and proved to have a heart of a champion. She never complained and was always putting others concerns before her own, even in the last heartbreaking days. Paula was born in Carlsbad, NM on October 19, 1961, to Robert and Connie Mahaffey. She graduated from Carlsbad High School in 1979 and eventually moved to Midland. It was in Midland that Paula began working as a Land and Legal Secretary and in September 1987 found her second home working for Discovery Operating. She loved working for the Sparks family and continued her career there until the summer of 2009 when she had to retire due to her illness. Paula married Gary Mulloy on February 16, 1990 and was an adoring mother to their three daughters, which they loved dearly. From the time they were born, her daughters were her life. Being the avid sports fan that she was, there was nothing more she enjoyed than watching them play softball. In the last several years, her attendance was not only an inspiration to her girls, but to everyone. This passion for sports included watching the Dallas Cowboys and Boston Red Sox. She was such an inspiration to so many people, even her adoring physician took her and her family to see her beloved Red Sox. Paula was a devoted member of Stonegate Fellowship and enjoyed the love of the church congregation. Her remarkable faith sustained her and her family through many trying years. Paula was preceded in death by her brother, Bobby Mahaffey. She is survived by her loving husband, Gary Mulloy, and their three daughters, Abbey Evans, Brooke Mulloy and Landry Mulloy, her grandchildren, Cooper and Cash Evans, all of Midland, her mother, Connie Mahaffey, of Midland and her father, Robert Mahaffey of Carlsbad, New Mexico. She is also survived by her sister, Nancy Mahaffey of Carlsbad, NM and her children, Stacy Stegall of Carlsbad, NM and Lacy Craig and her husband Adam, their two sons, Cole and Cade Craig of Las Vegas, NM, and her nephew Dustyn Young of Carlsbad, NM, her in-laws, Johnny and Jane Mulloy, her brother in-law Craig Mulloy and his wife Bonney, and their sons, Cody and Kyle Mulloy, all of Midland. Lastly, Paula leaves behind numerous aunts, uncles and cousins, all of which loved and will miss her greatly. Pallbearers are Johnny Mulloy, Craig Mulloy, Cody Mulloy, Kyle Mulloy, Stacy Stegall and Les Greenlee. Honorary Pallbearers include Cooper Evans, Cash Evans, Adam Craig, and Dustyn Young. Paula's strength and encouragement touched so many people and her charisma was a source of joy for her friends and family. The family would like to thank her numerous medical caregivers, both in Midland and Dallas. Special thanks to Drs. Berryman and Vance of Dallas and Dr. Rastogi and his PA, Dora of Midland. We also want to thank Hospice Midland for their care in the final days. Thank you to our family and friends for all of their prayers, meals and unending support during Paula's fight. Donations in Paula's memory may be made to Hospice Midland, PO Box 2621, Midland, TX 79702 or Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, PO Box 9031, Pittsfield, MA 01202. Arrangements are under the direction of Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home & Crematory of Midland. Online condolences can be made at: www.npwelch.com

Paula is going to be missed terribly at Discovery Operating. I admired her West Texas work ethic and always enjoyed her positive outlook at the office. She was a joy to be around.

I met Paula when I worked for Discovery Operating. She was the kind of person that as soon as you met her you instantly felt a sincere friendship. I am deeply saddened that she is gone and not here to be with her family, but yet find comfort knowing she is in a better place. I will continue to pray for her family.

Paula was such a sweet, lovely woman, she was always uplifting, happy and encouraging to everyone she was near. Our daughters played softball together either on the same team or opposing teams and for the last 12 years. Knowing her, seeing her and talking to her she was the biggest cheerleader of her girls and just the nicest person you would ever meet. We will miss hearing her cheers and her smiling face on those bleachers. Gary, I am sincerely sorry for the loss of your best friend and help-mate and we are praying for you & the girls during this difficult time. May God show you his love and compassion in the coming days, weeks & months.
