Wesley Graham Obituary

Wesley Dale Graham was born in Levelland, Texas, on May 14, 1926, to Lester Norman and Willie Lambert Graham, he was the youngest of nine children. Wes was raised and attended school in Levelland, graduating from Levelland High in 1944. He joined the United States Navy, after graduating high school, where he served on a communications ship in the Pacific Ocean for two years. He was stationed at Camp Wallace in Galveston, Texas. After being discharged from the Navy, he attended Texas Tech University in Lubbock, and later graduated, with honors, from the University of Texas Pharmacy School at Austin. He returned to Levelland to begin his career as a pharmacist at Spencer Ellis Drug Store. In 1951, Wesley married Evelyn Rogers, with whom he had three daughters. In 1960, he moved his family to Midland and went to work at Price Crawley Rexall Drug, where he worked as a pharmacist for seventeen years. He purchased the pharmacy and drug store, changing the name to Graham Pharmacy, which he ran with his wife, Doris Westbrook. Together they ran the drug store until their retirement in 1993. After retirement, he enjoyed studying his Bible, bird-watching, yard work, and vanilla ice cream. He attended Bible Study Fellowship and taught the children's class for several years. Wesley established "Old Town Midland", was a member of Main Street Church of Christ, the National and West Texas Pharmacy Clubs, and a member and Past President of Midland West Rotary Club, in which he received the Paul Harris Fellow Award. Wes was preceded in death by his parents; his eight brothers and sisters; and a grandson, Patrick McClure. Survivors include his wife of 34 years, Doris Westbrook Graham, and daughters, Sonja Flowers of Dallas, Paula Glover of Midland, Steva Flowers and husband, Rick of Spring, Texas. He is also survived by four step-daughters, Linda Herbert and husband, Wayne of Slidell, LA, Sue Dishong and husband, Steve of Midland, Kristi McClure and husband, James of Lewisville, and Tori Toomsalu of Midland. Also, eighteen grandchildren and ten great grandchildren. He was loved by many nieces and nephews. The family wishes to thank the Hospice Unit at MMH for their incredible support, love, and care during this time. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Midland, P.O. Box 2621, Midland, Texas 79702 or Berean Children's Home, P.O. Box 1009, Brookhaven, MS 39602-1009. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, December 2, 2011, at Main Street Church of Christ, with Brian Briley, pastor, officiating. Interment will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., on Thursday, December 1, 2011, at the funeral home. Arrangements are under the direction of Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home & Crematory of Midland. Online condolences can be made at: www.npwelch.com.

To all of Wes's family and friends,

I was born and raised in the Main Street Church of Christ. I spent many times listening to him preach and pray during my years there. I also drank many milkshakes over the years at the drug store. He was a fine man and will be greatly missed and forever in my mind. May God be with you in the days ahead.
