'Captain Bob' Hodgdon

Funeral services for Robert Captain Bob Hodgdon, 91 of Tyler, are scheduled for 10:00 a.m. Thursday, January 3, 2013 in the chapel of Burks Walker Tippit Funeral Home with Rev. Doug Blanton officiating. Burial will be at Pacific View Memorial Park in Corona Del Mar, CA on Monday, January 7, 2013, at 10:30 a.m.
Mr. Hodgdon went to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, December 30, 2012 in Tyler and was born December 17, 1921 in Los Angeles to the late George Edward and Elsa Albro Hodgdon. He was in the Merchant Marines and then worked in marine logistics for Global Marine. Mr. Hodgdon was a member of Masonic lodge #1661 in Kauai, HI and was the Worshipful Master in 1971. He lived in Tyler for the past five years and was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Troup. Mr. Hodgdon is preceded in death by his wife, Doris Marie Ann Hodgdon and a sister, Eleanor Marsh.
Survivors include his son, Bob Hodgdon and wife Christine of Sioux Falls, SD; a daughter, Dorothy Marie Bell and husband Genesis of Waimea, HI; a brother, Dan Markuette and wife Joan of Palm Desert, CA; five grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. Thursday, January 3, 2013.
