Dereck Lee James, 26, of Huddy, KY, passed away Friday, March 23, 2018.
He was born November 26, 1991, at Pikeville, KY, the son of Karen Sue (David) Maynard of Wellford, SC and the late Harold H. James Jr. He was also preceded in death by his grandfathers, William Wade Smith and Harold James; his special uncle, John Lee and special cousin, Tony Franks.
Dereck was employed by Harris Construction. He loved to hunt, fish and spend time with his little boys and his family.
Other survivors include his two sons, Hunter Lee James and Colton Ray James; sister, Kayla Sue James (Matt Langdeau) of Huddy, KY; grandmothers, Ruth James of Huddy, KY and Ellen Sue Smith of Canada, KY; special niece, Sawyer James; aunt, Lori (Joey) Bowling of Huddy, KY; uncles, David (Sherri) Harris and Turtle (Pam) Smith all of Canada, KY and a host of other loving family and friends.
Visitation will be held Monday, March 26, 2018, beginning at 5:30 PM in the R. E. Rogers Funeral Home Chapel with his funeral at 7 PM conducted by Larry Hubbard and Roger Bogar. R. E. Rogers Funeral Home of Belfry is serving the family. Online condolences at www.rerogersfh.com.
I was sitting here thinking about you. I miss you so much. We had so many great memories together. It still doesn´t seem real that you´re gone. I miss you every single day. I love you !!! And I hope you always remember that. & carry that with you. R.I.P

I was just sitting here thinking about you, Dereck. I miss you so much!! We all do!! I dont think you ever realized just how loved you were and still are!! Your boys miss you. They are little mini yous. Lol. They are obsessed with dinosaurs, bulldozers, and video games. Sawyer misses you too. She looks up at the stars at night and talks to you. I think about you every day. I wish I had just one more minute with you. RIP Bub. Sis Sis loves you!!

I knew your sister Kayla and she always talked about you and your kids and how blessed she was to have you as her brother. You was her best friend I think when she lost you it really broke her . I hope the 2 of you are together again in Heaven. Prayers for your sweet mom and both of your kids
