A.B. Thornton Obituary

AB (Buford) Thornton, age 93 of Knoxville and Chestnut Hill, went to heaven to be with his wife, Hattie, on August 10, 2015. He was a longtime member of Lake Forest Presbyterian Church. He was a very active member of the Kerbela Temple, driving the van for children and their families to the Burn Center until age 80. He was a 50 year member of Charles McKinney Lodge. He was a WWII Navy Veteran with the CBs in the South Pacific. He was a loving father and grandfather and an avid fisherman and gardener. AB was preceded in death by his parents, Hobert and Osta Thornton; his wife, Hattie Thornton; brothers and sisters, Robert Thornton, Edna Thornton, Viva Thornton and Kenneth Thornton; his nieces, Janie Witt and Margie Loughlin. He is survived by his only daughter, Gail Thornton; son-in-law, Brady Beech; grandsons, Christopher Gray and Kale Gray; great-grandchildren, Taryn, Carson, Gwen, Amanda, and Henry. The family will receive friends on Saturday, August 15, 2015 at Berry Funeral Home on Chapman Highway from 11:00am-1:00pm with a funeral service to follow at 1:00pm. There will be a procession to Berry Lynnhurst Cemetery following the service. Condolences may be offered at www.berryfuneralhome.com.
