Adeline Cherry Obituary

Adeline L. Cherry, 88, of Danbury, CT passed away peacefully on Sunday evening at Danbury Hospital surrounded by her family. She was the wife of the late Louis B. Cherry. Adeline, fondly known as Dolly, was born in Carbondale, PA on July 7, 1923, a daughter of the late Placido and Mary (Montaro) Alibro. She graduated from Benjamin Franklin High School in Carbondale, PA. Lou and Adeline were married at St. Joseph's Church in Danbury on June 6, 1946. Before her retirement, Adeline was an inspector with Barden Corporation. Adeline enjoyed crocheting, visiting family, and the infamous QVC. Affectionately known as Nona, she was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She will always be remembered for her stories, cookies, afghans, and the time she spent with her family. Adeline will be sadly missed by her daughter, Sharon Yakacki and her husband, Bob, granddaughter, Brenna Sullivan and her husband, Ryan, grandson, Ryan Yakacki, and great- grandchildren, Cailyn and Owen Sullivan and Zaira Yakacki. She is also survived by her sister, Katherine Dudas of Danbury, as well as several nieces and nephews. Adeline was predeceased by her siblings Rose, Cecilia, Genevieve, Marie and Frank. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday at 10am at Sacred Heart Church, Danbury. Burial will follow in St. Peter Cemetery. Friends will be received on Wednesday from 6-8pm at the Green Funeral Home, 57 Main St., Danbury. Contributions in Mrs. Cherry's memory may be made to Sacred Heart Church, 46 Stone St., Danbury, CT 06810.
