Obituary
Akyra Murray, 18, of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, was killed in the shooting at the Pulse nightclub in Orlando, Florida. A recent graduate of Philadelphia's West Catholic Preparatory High School, she was third in her class and was visiting Florida to celebrate her graduation. She had planned to attend Mercyhurst University in the fall. There, she would play basketball with a full scholarship.
Her high school coach mourned her in a message on the school's website: "Losing Akyra is heartbreaking. This is a very difficult day, not just for the Murray family but for the West Catholic family and all that were touched by Akyra's warmth and magnetic embrace."
