Guerra & Gutierrez Mortuary - Montebello Obituary

Huizar, Alfred ?Alfredo? F, born in Los Angeles, California on February 28, 1942, passed away peacefully on July 9, 2013 after a courageous battle resulting from complications of adenocarcinoma.

After graduating from Garfield High School in Los Angeles, California, Alfredo served his country by enlisting in the United States Air Force in 1960 and was honorably discharged in 1962. Alfredo loved life and lived it passionately at a full speed-ahead pace. He successfully pursued several vocations in the arts focusing early on in acting and music. He and his nephew Edward played in Edward?s band that starred on the Hollywood strip at venues like The Whisky and Gazzari?s.

Alfredo successfully opened and operated several upscale Hair and Beauty Salons in Newport Beach, Beverly Hills, Marina Del Rey, and Las Vegas in a career that spanned over 40 years. He became somewhat of a celebrity with appearances on Eye on LA, Regis, and was featured on an AM radio show called ?Alfredo the Hair Doctor? during the 80s and 90s. During this time, he made several life lasting relationships that became strong friendships with people from all walks of life and his positive energy, caring and compassion still lives on through those he has touched. Though he had enjoyed great success and had many celebrity clients he never forgot where he came from and gave back to communities both in Southern California and in Mexico.

Alfredo spent countless hours volunteering at the Los Angeles Mission serving food and soup to the poor and homeless as well as making his annual trip to Mexico to visit the orphanages bringing a smile and haircuts to the children. He loved his family and his life and lived it to the fullest every day. He enjoyed being active and living a healthy lifestyle continuing to enjoy long walks by the beach, kayaking, and golfing.

He is survived by his son, Jon Alfred Huizar and Daughter in Law Karen Renee Ursenbach-Huizar; his grandchildren, Michael Jon and Trenton Anthony; his sister, Eleanor Ramos, his brother, Jack Huizar: his beloved nephew and ?brother?, Edward James Olmos.

A memorial and internment servicing honoring the life of Alfred Huizar will be held at Rose Hills Memorial Cemetery at 11:00 AM on Friday, July 26, 2013 located at 3888 Workmilll Road Whittier, CA 90601
