Alice Cheever Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Sep. 13, 2016.
Alice M. Fontaine Cheever (Kinsella), 69, a resident of Chesterfield, NH, passed away at the Cheshire Medical Center, Keene, NH on Monday, September 12, 2016.

She was born October 9, 1946 in North Philadelphia, PA, the daughter of Edwin J and Alice M(Payne) Kinsella, Sr. Strength and perseverance where two of her most admirable qualities: no doubt due to growing up in North Philadelphia and surviving Polio in her youth.

Interacting with people in the community was something that she enjoyed, especially during the time that she spent working at Woolworths, Hannaford in Keene and Cheshire Medical Center Keene.

She loved being surrounded by those that she loved and she was very compassionate. Although she was known as "Little Al", her personality and spunk was far from little: she more than made up for you petite demeanor with a sassy, fun-spirited warmth. She enjoyed taking road-trips with her friends, especially when she and her late husband would go for rides on their motorcycle. She enjoyed being surrounded by the beauty of nature and was always happy to bring the brightness and life-giving energy of flowers into her home. There was a very special place in her heart for animals, especially her dog: Sally(?). The holidays were a highlight in her life: St. Patrick 's Day and Christmas were two of her favorites, however anytime she could be close to those that she loved, she was the happiest.

She leaves her brother: Edwin Kinsella of California and her sister: Robin Kinsella of Maine. Although she never had children of her own, she was blessed with a multitude of nieces, nephews and extended family members. She was blessed with the continued friendship and bond of family with the family of her first husband: Jerry Fontaine, especially Laura and John Fontaine. She is also survived by the family of her late husband. She is predeceased by her second husband: Ronald "Buddy" Cheever, her brother: William "Billy" Kinsella and her sister: Irene Kinsella.

A graveside service will be held at the Monadnock View Cemetery, Park Ave, Keene, NH on Friday, September 30, 2016 at 11am. There will be no calling hours.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association Mass. & NH Chapter, 480 Pleasant Street, Watertown, MA. 02472.

My good friend you will be missed by so many. We have had so many good times. You were not just my neighbor but a very special friend. It is so hard to go by your house everyday and know you are not there. You will be forever in my heart and someday we will meet again. I am glad we got so close and the amount of time that we spent together was the best. Just so you know i just came from your house and mowed the lawn, had too do it one more time. I know you were right there with me. I love you with all my heart and will miss you always. Think of you everyday.

You will always be Alice Fontaine to me. You were always there with a smile and something to say! You were such apart of our family from day one. Even Pete thought you were OK! You were a sister to me and a friend. I have lots of happy memories when I think of you. You had a hard life but you lived it to the fullest. May you rest in peace. Love you and miss you always.

Dennis and I miss you, always appreciated being with you. Knew you just two years , you fit in our lives like an old friend. One of the strongest and bravest people I have ever known. After all you'd been through it was fun to hear about things you were looking forward to, to see you smile and laugh again. Wish you had had more time, however, know you are in a better place free of pain and rejoicing in God's kingdom. You'll always be in my heart, especially 4th of July and Christmas Eve :) Ann and Denny Boyd, Dummerston, VT
