ANDREW MICHAEL “DREW” THORNE
Andrew Michael “Drew” Thorne, age 11, of Madison, passed away at 2:42 PM on Thursday, February 3, 2005, at the Kosair Children’s Hospital in Louisville, KY.
He was born December 20, 1993, in Madison to Brian L. Thorne and Mary M. (Hertz) Thorne. Drew was a lifelong resident of the Jefferson County community. He was raised in Hanover, where he attended Southwestern Elementary School from Kindergarten through 4th grade. Drew moved to the Graham Road area in August 2004 and was currently a 5th grade student at Canaan Elementary School. Drew was an outstanding young man who enjoyed playing video games, collecting Yu-Gi-Oh! Cards, playing with his friends and watching The Simpsons. Drew was a very talented and active soccer player whose favorite position was goalie. He was active in the Lide White Boys & Girls Club, the Hanover/Southwestern Soccer League and also played on the Jefferson County United Soccer U-11 Boys Travel Team. Drew attended the Hanover Baptist Church.

Drew will be missed by his mother, Mary M. (Hertz) Thorne & her fiancé, Tom Spry, of Madison; his father & step-mother, Brian L. & Scarlet Thorne, of Canaan; three sisters, Janet D. Hertz and Heather N. Hertz-Simmons, both at home; Sarah B. Thorne, of Hanover; two brothers, Darrin L. Thorne and Bobby R. Thorne, both at home; one step-brother, Brennan Green, at home; maternal grandparents, Albert & Betty Haviland Hertz, of Hanover; paternal grandparents, Barbara Thorne, of Hanover; Walter “Bim” Ralston, of Hanover; step-grandparents, Mary Taylor, of Madison and Edward & Jackie Owen, of Canaan; paternal great-grandfather, Gayle Ralston, of Hanover; several aunts, uncles, cousins, friends, classmates and teammates.
Drew was preceded in death by his great-grandparents, Allison “Jackie” Ralston, Bobby Thorne, Gilberta Thorne, Charles & Louise Katherine Rousch Hertz, Roscoe Haviland and Flora Franklin Haviland.
FUNERAL CEREMONY
Drew will be remembered in a funeral ceremony conducted by Rev. JD Traylor and Pastor Joe Maldonado at 11:00 AM on Monday, Feb. 7, at the Calvary Baptist Church, 2632 Michigan Road, Madison. Interment will follow in Hebron Cemetery.
VISITATION.
Family & friends may gather for visitation from 3:00 - 8:00 PM on Sunday, Feb. 6, at the Morgan-Webster-Nay Funeral Home, 325 Demaree Drive, Madison. Visitation will continue at the Calvary Baptist Church from 10:00 - 11:00 AM on Monday, Feb. 7.
