Anita Lucille Page Haefele left Earth on her angel wings January 14th, 2019. "Nita", as she liked to be called, entered her eternal rest quietly, surrounded by children and grandchildren. Nita was born on October 17, 1930 in Bay Shore Long Island New York and lived in Barstow 55 years. Nita joined the Air Force to support her country. serving 1 year. During her tour of duty she met her future husband, Max A Haefele, marrying soon after on April 11, 1950. Nita enjoyed most everything crafty. Her talents ranged from needlework, canvas art, stained glass, to custom cards for every occasion whether family or friend, a card from Nita was a real treat. Nita worked several jobs, including Barstow Park and Recreation Dist., Ed Warner Chevrolet, Babs Printing, and wife and mother to 7. Nita played the organ and loved to sing classic music. She was an avid sports fan; football, baseball and wrestling were her favorites. Nita is survived by her brother Ted of Dunellen FL; daughters Pam Winslow of Farmington NM, Teresa Phelps Calvert and husband Keith Calvert of Barstow, Marie (Bonnie) Lateweic and her husband Ed of Barstow; sons Dennis and wife Marlena of Barstow, John and wife Debra of Redding CA, Paul and wife Melissa of Barstow, and Ron and girlfriend Connie of Barstow. Nita had 7 children, 20 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild. Visitation will be 4-8pm Thursday, January 24th at Mead Mortuary, 36930 Irwin Rd., Barstow CA. Nita's memorial/celebration of life will be held Friday, January 25th at 1pm at New Life Fellowship Church located at 134 West Main St., Barstow CA. Reception to follow immediately after the service at NLF. Burial will be January 29th at Riverside National Cemetery, 22495 Van Buren Blvd., Riverside CA 92518; check with guard for staging area.
