Ann was born on Dec. 29, 1930 in Chicago, Ill., the daughter of Harriett Linn Adams and Adam Albert Adams. From the age of 13, she was raised by her aunt, Gretchen F. O'Donnell in Lake Forest, Ill. She attended St. Anne's-Belfield School in Virginia and Bradford Junior College in Massachusetts. After college, Ann lived in New York City where she worked at The New Yorker magazine. She also lived in Jacksonville, Fla., where her two children were born.
She raised her family in New Canaan, where she was an active volunteer at St. Mark's Episcopal Church and New Canaan Country School which her children attended.
An avid nature lover, Ann was on the board of the New Canaan Nature Center.
For the last several years, Ann was an antiques dealer, selling antiques at indoor and outdoor antique shows all over Connecticut. She was particularly interested in antique furniture and paintings and spent much of her time restoring old pieces.
She is survived by her son, Richard Packard Rorick Jr. and his wife, Paulien, of Simsbury, and her daughter, Gretchen Rorick Cervantes and her husband, Vergel, of Vienna, Va.; and her two grandsons, Oliver Adams Cervantes and Richard Packard Rorick III.
Ann was a devoted mother and grandmother who loved spending time with her two grandsons. She was also a loyal friend, who kept in touch with people who spanned decades of her life. Her warm and generous spirit will be remembered by all who knew her.
Donations may be made in her memory to the Humane Society of Southeastern CT and Disabled American Veterans.
A Memorial Service will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, June 12, 2008 at St. Ann's Episcopal Church, Shore Road, Old Lyme, CT 06371.
