CLOSED-Harvey Family Funeral Home Obituary

Anthony J. Leptich (Tony)

Born February 18, 1926 in Seattle; died February 15, 2019 at his home also in Seattle, WA

Survived by Carol Hallquist, his longtime partner; his children, Theresa Maiello, Paul, Michael (Delynda), Eileen Joslin, Nancy and Raymond Leptich. Tony also leaves behind many grandchildren, great grand- children, nieces and nephews. As well as Carol’s children, Tammie Starwich, Jeff Hallquist, Wade Hallquist (Marilou), Joline Mills (Phil)

Preceded in death in 1999 by his son, Phil Leptich and Carol’s son, Mark Hallquist.

Tony was born in the community of Ballard in the family home. He graduated from St. Alphonsus grade school and O’Dea High School.

Tony served in the Army for two years in Europe with the 71st Division as a mortar man. The 71st Division also liberated the Gunskirchen Lager concentration camp in Austria. Tony and Carol have been attending the 71st’s yearly reunions since 1996 in whichever State they were hosted.  They hosted a reunion themselves in 2014 in Seattle.  Four of the survivors always attended also…they were so very thankful for these men from the 71st.

His first job was working with his Dad in the “Red Barn” Boeing Building.  He worked there for 16 years before eventually becoming a commercial truck driver and becoming an owner of a trucking company and driving for and retiring from West Coast Paper Co.

Tony & Carol traveled for over 22 years in a motorhome being on the road for nine months out of every year right up to last year.  Great friendships were made over those years. They traveled all of the US + Canada and Mexico. (he loved being in Mexico), taking cruises here and there…also deciding to take seasonal jobs just for the fun of it…..working at a citrus grove in Florida meeting people from all over the world and enjoying every minute of it!

Tony was still working in the winter of 2017-18 for a few months in a Boot Store in Georgia for the same wonderful guy from the citrus grove.

Tony loved sports and followed his teams, O’Dea High School Football, the Huskies and the Cougs, as well as, the Seahawks and Mariners.  He came to love the Georgia Bulldogs and the Florida Gators because of our good friends and all the times we spent there with them.

Tony was a very special guy. Very giving, loved people, life, travel, humor and especially food. Tell him about an All You Can Eat Restaurant and he would be there, especially Catfish in Georgia.  He touched so many peoples lives …we all have our favorite “Tony” memories!  He will be forever missed.

We love you “Antonio.”

Not sure what to say?

Tony was a good friend and always a bright star in any room. My life is richer because I was blessed to know and love him as a family member for many years.

You may be gone from our sight, but you will never be gone from our memory. ♥

Tony will be missed by many. His sense of humor and friendly manner was always appreciated. RIP Tony.

Tony was an awesome person and always had a smile and a joke. Would always make me laugh. He had a serious side too specially when he was concerned about you. Tony was my sister's Father-in-law. Spend many many times with him over the years. Specially super bowls and at his place playing pool. Tony will be missed by all and anyone that knew him and could call him friend was blessed including me. The heaven will be brighter because of him. Love you Tony and until we meet again.

I met Tony through his son Mike back in 1967. We had many good memories including his 90th birthday party. He was a great guy and will be missed.

You truly will be missed dear friend. My husband Ted, who has since passed some 4 yrs. ago on February 20th, today, and I lived next door to Tony some 35 yrs. ago. Tony was a party guy and we enjoyed many great Super Bowl parties at his home...met many of his friends. Ted and Tony lived next door to each other way before I came into the picture...the two loved to grocery shop together, clippings coupons and shopping the sales at local markets...we went on many camp-outs with them, and...

Rest In Peace, Tony. You will be missed by so many.
