Dear Mary, Jessie and Teddy - our hearts break for you in the life cut short for your husband/father. Anthony was so loved and made a difference in the lives of those he touched. What an example he has left for all of us in his legacy of service. How wonderful to read the comments and reflections of others which reaffirm the difference he made in such a short life. You are all loved and please know that we are here for you. Hugs to each of you.

Dear Jessie and Teddy: I pray one day that you can look at this guest book not in sadness but with a smile in knowing that your father was well-respected and loved by so many people! Your father was exactly as everyone is stating here and more. And it is true as Jim stated "when they made him, they broke the mold"!

I served with Anthony in Germany, he was my roommate. He was the best man at my first wedding. I taught him how to eat crawfish, he taught me to laugh. Was looking forward to meeting up with him in AZ to do a ride. He meant the world to me. Tony.....you are my brother and I will miss you. I will be thinking of you often.

Anthony was many things to many people. He was kind, generous, loving, sweet, funny, calm, precise, mild-mannered, and above all had a great heart!
I knew Anthony as a friend, had the pleasure of serving with Anthony on the Board of Portland Bayside Little League, and also had the priveledge of working many games and sharing the field with him as a fellow umpire.
I am extremely saddened by his loss and miss him dearly and will continue to due so each and everyday and especially when I set foot onto a local softball or baseball diamond to work my future games. He will always be in my mind and heart!
My prayers and love go out to his loving wife Mary, his two beautiful children Jessie and Teddy, his Mom and Dad, and the rest of his extended family and friends!
It is a cliche', but it seems to fit here about Anthony! "When they made him, they broke the mold!"
There will never be another like Anthony Arthur "Tony" Periera!
We will meet again my friend one day and you can have the plate when I get there! Keep my spot ready for me for when it becomes my day to join you and and Bruce "Umpy' Smith on the "Field of Dreams" in heaven!
Good byr my friend! I love you and I miss you! May you rest in peace!

I am sadden to hear of Tony's passing. I met Tony back around 1997ish while attending USM. We both ended up running for President of the Board of Student Organizations. I won but told Tony he needed to be the VP-as a team we could do great things. What a great year it was.
The happiest I ever saw Tony was the day that he married Mary. His face was just beaming a smile so big. And when their first child was born-he was estactic!
Just recently I found a box of pictures and there were quite a few of Tony and Mary's wedding that brought back alot of memories of a wonderful person and times.
My deepest condolances to Mary, Jessie, Teddy, family and friends. We have a lost a wonderful person who I am proud to have known and called a friend.
Rest In Peace Tony~you will be missed deeply by all who have been giving the greatest gift to have known you!

Tony was a student of mine in the USM Computer Science Department. He was an excellent student and a very nice guy. I would occasionally run into him in Portland and he was always a pleasure to see and talk with. The last I heard of him he requested a recommendation from me for a job at Intel in Phoenix. It seems that he got that job. I am so sorry that his new home was his last.

I had the great privilege to have umpired the last few years with Anthony and can honestly say he was one of the finest, most upstanding gentleman to ever grace the baseball diamond. His sense of humor, unwavering fairness, and love of the game and all the kids who played it can not be replaced. He will be sorely missed by us all. Mary, Teddy and Jessie I hope that you can find some comfort in knowing what a respected and well loved man he was by all of his 'brothers in blue.'

To Mary and family;
You have my sympathy. Tony was so proud of you all. We graduated from the same class at Thornton Academy and were baseball umpires together these past few years. He talked about all of you frequently. He was so excited to go to Arizona and start his new job. He was excited to have you join him. May Peace and comfort find you with time.

We are so incredibly sorry, Mary, Teddy and Jessie. Anthony was one of the few people that we knew who truly exuded JOY, no matter what the situation. We are grateful for having known him. We always joked that you guys were our "rock" in Portland - it didn't matter what time or day something happened, if we were in need, you were there to help. We will do our best to return that support now. We love you all VERY much.
