Read MoreI got to know Arlene when I student-taught with Curtis at the ELCO schools in 1981. We kept in touch via Christmas letters each year. Curtis and Arlene visited us in Willmar, Minn. in the late 1990s. My sympathy to Curtis for the loss of his dear partner of so many years.

While I did not have Mrs. Troutman for second grade, I did grow up to have the upmost respect for her. She commanded respect and she received it. And, she deserved that respect as well. Her kindness during those years will always remain with me and I will always have a special place in my heart for her. Mrs. Troutman was one of those teachers who made a deep impression on those school years. My deepest sympathy to Mr. Troutman during this difficult time.

Mrs. Troutman taught our son Rob at Jackson Elementary. She deserves the credit for helping him to enjoy learning and giving him confidence in his studies. She was a warm and encouraging teacher.
