Arvid F. Carlson, beloved retired pastor of the Felton Bible Church, died peacefully on Thursday at the age of 94. Arvid was born in Sweden in 1912, orphaned at the age of 8, and came to America and Ellis Island with his sister in 1920. He grew up in the Central Valley in the Fresno...

Not sure what to say?

It was so good to know RV for all these years! He will be greatly missed. I think of him often. Let us not forget Linnea!

Having known Arvid's daughter Linda, I feel that I have somehow known him too. What a wonderful inspiration he has been to all he has touched in his life, and what a glorious end of life story....and wonderful beginning to his new life watching over us all. May all of us learn from his gift of giving to others.

Pastor Carlson gave me the gospel foundation to which I later returned after a time of apostasy in college. I remember many a potluck with his ready laughter and quick wit keeping all of us in stitches. His sermons are still the benchmark for evaluating the pulpit each time I have had to choose a church to attend. I will remember him as a true man of God in all circumstances. My prayers are with Linnea and all pastor's family.

We buried dad yesterday in a beautiful, personal and moving service at Oakwood Cemetery. We plan a Memorial for him in August and will be sure to let his many friends know of the date and time so they can attend.
Signed, Linda, Pam and Chuck

Thank you Pam and family for sharing so much of your fathers last days. I was so glad to have been able to visit two weeks ago. We loved him so much and will miss him greatly. I am the daughter of Arthur and Lillian Nelson, so we are family.

Love, Pegi

Betty and I attended the Pasadena Lake Avenue Covenant Church, for two years, while Betty was doing her residency at UCLA Medical Center. We greatly appreciated his ministry and his friendship. He and Lennea became dear friends. We moved home to Portland, OR in 1963, and had seen Arvid only a few times over the years. We had the privilege of visiting with he and Lennea about three years ago. It was as if we had not seen them for a few weeks rather than many years.

He was one...

Arvid was a beloved pastor, wonderful friend, and a mentor to us. Our love and prayers to Linnea, and the entire family. "Blessed are the dead which die in the Lord; that they may rest from their labors and their works do follow them." Revelation 14:13

As a co-worker of Arvid's daughter Pam, I've heard anecdotes here and there, and peeked in small snippets to the long life of what was obviously a great man. Reading the remembrance was an honor. Thank you to all of the family for sharing your dad's history with us. May you each find comfort in time, and in the legacy Arvid left by touching so many lives.
