Barbara June Fackel

Hard to think that Barb has been gone half a decade now. I still think of her often, especially when her birthday rolls around (which is always notated on my wall calendar). Such a good friend and a wonderful woman she was!

I think of Barb every day because her photo sits on my work desk along with my dearest friends with whom I spent over 20 years working for the Missouri Valley. Barb was a veritable treasure.

The tennis world has lost a great one. I wish we had had the chance to say goodbye and to tell Barb how much we admired her and her commitment to junior tennis. Hopefully she knew just how much her time and efforts were appreciated by the QC, the Missouri Valley, and the nation. Aside from the tennis, Barb was such a kind and special person -- she will be sorely missed.

You may not remember me, but I lived 1/4 mile South of you when you attended Lincoln Township#9 country school. I, Shirley Murphy and Karl Jacobs used to walk with you and Barb the mile back and forth from your home to school nearly every weekday for a number of years, until it was closed in 1946.
