Catherine Norton Obituary

Catherine Finch Norton

Catherine Finch Norton, age 101, of Old Fort, NC died Wednesday, February 5, 2014 at Autumn Care of Marion.

Ms. Norton was born September 8, 1912 in McDowell County, NC. She was a charter member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Marion, NC where she had served as a Primary Sabbath School Teacher, Sabbath School Secretary and in several other positions over the years. She was also a member of D.A.R.

Ms. Norton is also preceded in death by her husband, Ed Norton; her daughter, Grace Calloway; two sisters, Lucy Finch and Selma Runnion; and one brother, Joe Finch.

Surviving are her son, Robert Mason of Fletcher, NC; two grandsons, Shannon Mason of Canton, NC and David Calloway of Arden, NC; Ms. Nortons closest friend for over 30 years, Myrtle Lee Walker; and a number of nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 12:00 PM until 2:00 PM on Monday, February 10, 2014 at Kirksey Funeral Chapel in Old Fort, NC. A Graveside Service will follow at 2:00 PM at Old Fort City Cemetery with with Pastor Ronald Davis officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to: Seventh Day Adventist Church - 188 Ward Dr. Marion, NC 28752 or to the charity of one's choice.
