Cheryl Christine (Lupa) Yochum, 69, of Brentwood, died peacefully surrounded by loved ones, Monday, April 4, 2016. Cheryl was born March 22, 1947, in the historic Pittsburgh neighborhood of Lawrenceville, a daughter of Vivian D. (Pishko) Modecki, and Walter C. Lupa Jr.; and stepdaughter of Walter T. Modecki. She was the twin sister of Cindy P. Horchak, of Ambridge. Cheryl had two sons, Ronald C. Yochum Jr. and Gregory C. Yochum and his partner, Beth Richardson, and a granddaughter, Shannon R. Yochum, all who live in Pittsburgh. Cheryl leaves behind nephews, nieces and cousins. After graduating from Carrick High School, Cheryl worked managing routes of rolling stock at the Chicago Great Western Railway. Cheryl was a homeopath, herbalist and horticulturist. She was a partner in a retail store specializing in Wiccan and new age philosophy and products. She retired as a medical review specialist for health insurance providers in Pittsburgh. She was an accomplished artist, including painting, ceramics, Ukrainian pysanky and gardening. Cheryl especially enjoyed spending her summers with her family and friends at the farm in Ohio and at Cape Hatteras, N.C., or traveling to historic places of interest.
There will be no visitation. A private memorial service will be held at a later date in Columbiana, Ohio. Arrangements by WALTER J. ZALEWSKI FUNERAL HOME, Lawrenceville.
