Schrader Funeral Home and Crematory - Ballwin Obituary

Nies, Christopher Leon, passed away, Monday, October 20, 2025.

Beloved brother of Donna (the late Paul Niebur) Evert, Gwen (Del) Nichols and the late Jerry (survived by Vandy) and Richard (survived by Jewel) Nies; loving son of the late Clarence and Sylvia Nies (nee Haegele); our dear uncle, great-uncle, cousin and friend of many.

He was always a brave person and full of life even when facing his pancreatic cancer disease.  He did not want anyone to go out of their way for him.

Chris worked for Engine Rebuilders Corp. for over 50 years. It was his dad's company and after his dad sold the company he decided to stay.

Chris was a fiercely independent person who lived strongly by his parents instilling high principles. He was a loving individual who was eager to listen to what someone had to say.  He enjoyed watching on television Cardinals baseball, Blues hockey, Chiefs football, car auctions, Pickers, Antique Roadshows and the News.

He also loved taking care of his parents, cousins and neighbors. Whether is be mowing the grass or shoveling snow, he was always there to help.

He enjoyed the family's summer home at Cedar Hill Lake. He and nephew Greg took over total maintenance of the property keeping it nice for the rest of the family.

Please share your thoughts and memories of Chris in the on-line guestbook.

Services:   Services private.  As a service of the SCHRADER Funeral Home and Crematory, friends may sign the family’s on-line guestbook at Schrader.com.

Not sure what to say?

In loving memory of a wonderful neighbor. May all those who knew and loved him find peace and comfort in the days to come. I'm going to miss chatting with Chris as he was always a cheerful person. May God rest his soul.
