CLETIS D. CLEMMONS Mr. Cletis D. Clemmons, 83, of the Holden Beach Community died Tuesday May 15, 2018 at his home. Mr. Clemmons was born in New Hanover County on December 22, 1934 and was the son of the late Vander Henry Clemmons and Letha Todd Clemmons. He was a veteran of the U.S. Coast Guard and U.S. Army. Mr. Clemmons was a dedicated servant and business owner of the Holden Beach Community and Brunswick County. He owned and operated the Seafood Barn of Holden Beach from 1978 until 1990 before turning the business over to his daughter Heidi. He was founder of the Holden Beach Merchant's Association and Festival By the Sea. He served as a Brunswick County Commissioner for four years and was instrumental in establishing the Brunswick Hospital and served on the Hospital Board. He also owned and operated Clemmons and Son's Welding and was Captain with Atkinson Dredging. He is survived by his wife, Pat Fulford Clemmons; two children, Chris Clemmons and wife Beverly of Dacula, Georgia, Heidi Hearrell and husband Cliff of Holden Beach; four grandchildren, Fallon Summerlin, Caleb Walker, Brian Clemmons, Caitie Clemmons; three great grandchildren, Wriston Bradsher, Laeland Bradsher, Harlen Summerlin; a brother, Julian Britt of Supply; a sister, Myrna Malinchalk of Ocean Isle Beach; a honorary child, John Hewett of Supply. Funeral Services will be held Friday May 18, 2018 at eleven o'clock in the morning at Sabbath Home Baptist Church with Reverend Wade McLamb officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Pallbearers will be, Lee Hewett, Jerome Walker, Greg Gray, Grover Hewett, Robert J. Robinson, John Perry Robinson. Honorary pallbearers will be, Phillip Robinson, Pearly Vereen, Kenwood Royal.
