Clinton Blake Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Nov. 5, 2012.
Clinton Allan Blake passed away November 2, 2012 in Mesa, Arizona. Born in Stockville, Nebraska, to Edward and Maude (nee Alexander) Blake, Clinton arrived on July 25, 1928. Wanting to serve his country, Clinton asked his parents for permission in join the Army. He proudly served in the Army Air Corp during WWII, earning the WWII Victory Medal, and the Army of Occupation Medal – Japan. When he returned from the service, he married the love of his life, Priscilla "Pat" Shively. They were married on August 29, 1948 in Sutherland, Nebraska at the Methodist Church. They spent 64 years loving and adoring each other. From 1958-1991 Clinton worked and retired from a manufacturing company in New Jersey. After retirement, he built their home in Colorado. Clinton could build anything, and loved working with gadgets. He was intelligent, and logical, but had such a kind and caring side. Being quick witted, Clinton's sense of humor carried through even the hardest times. He was active in the Rocky Mountain Christian Church in Colorado. After moving to Arizona he continued his dedication to the Lord, and joined Central Christian Church. He enjoyed being a part of the Iron Man Men's Group. Clinton was a true example of who a man should be. Always being a positive mentor, he served as a vital role in the lives of those around him. He was an adoring husband, loving father, wonderful grandfather, and a supportive big brother. He is preceded in death by his grandson, Brant, who jogged to the pearly gates before grandpa got there so he could help St. Peter welcome him home. Together they are enjoying Godiva Chocolate, and watching over Grandma Pat. He is also preceded in death by his parents, granddaughter baby Elizabeth, and son-in-law Hugh Crooks. Clinton is survived by his beloved wife, Pat, daughters Linda Crooks, Susan Johnson, Theresa "Terri" Johnson, and Sherri Wilson, son Patrick Wilson, 9 grandchildren, and 4 great grandchildren, siblings June Tackett, Clifford Blake, Karen Bargell, and David Blake, and extended family Melinda Jordan. The family asks in lieu of flowers, that donations be made to the Lund Family Hospice 1982 East Woodside Court Gilbert, Arizona 85297. A service will be held November 15, 2012 from 10:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. at Sundland Village East, in the Mesa Verde Room. Arrangements are entrusted to Mariposa Gardens Memorial Park and Funeral Care 400 South Power Road Mesa, Arizona 85206 (480)830-4422. Oh, Pat, Phil and I are so sorry to hear about Clint's long struggle with celiac disease and his recent death. We, too, have nothing but positive memories of our time with you in Reflections.

Phil is now on hemodialysis (which we do at home 5 days a week for 4 hours) but he is responding well to the treatments and his cardiologist is thrilled with his improvement in heart and lungs.

Please know that our thoughts and prayers are with you.

It's incredibly hard to imagine life on this Earth without Clint. How do we continue on without access to his relentless humor, wisdom and love? Precious Mom, your tireless devotion as a wife and caregiver is a testament to your love for Dad. You two have made my life so much richer and blessed. There are so many of us who you have gathered up into your hearts! You are surrounded by the most fantastic friends and loved ones because you two have always been fantastic loving friends. I pray that all that you have given to others can be returned to you now when you need it the most, Mom. I love you both with all my heart and am forever grateful to have been able to come see you in October. I love and miss you Dad. I love you Mom and pray that you can now get some rest as you adapt and adjust - your faith and strength is utterly amazing. I love you. And you know that all the other Jordans love you too. xoxoxo

My dearest friend Pat (AKA Mom),
I was blessed the day I met you at the pool we found out we were neighbors and that's where our friendship began. It wasn't too long after that I met Clint and his wit drew me in instantly. I will miss his words as I would enter your home “here comes trouble”. He made me feel loved and part of the family.
Pat you were an amazing wife and care giver to Clint. From the beginning of his illness until the end you put Clint first. I could see how tired you were at times but you kept your eyes on the Lord for your strength.
It would seem hard to visit with a man who knew he was dying but not with Clint. He would always greet Larry and I with a smile and a hug, good conversation and humor. When our visit was over he never said goodbye, it was always “see you later and thanks for coming”. We will miss Clint very much.
I could not close this without mentioning Sherri and Patrick. The love they have and have shown for both you and Clint is beyond words. It's a blessing for Larry and I to know them and call them friends.
Clint is gone from us but his life lives on in all our hearts

We will miss Clint so very much. I (Pat) had the pleasure of sharring the
same birth date, not the same year, mind you as we joked about. We were
always curious to know just what he was making now in his garage. A
nicer neighbor you couldn"t have asked for. Our Prayers, John & Patricia

Dear Aunt Pat, Uncle Clint was a joy to be with...always so positive and a kick in the pants! He enjoyed life and made us laugh! I always thought of him to be so smart and enjoyed picking his brain about all kinds of stuff. Thank you for everything you did for him and being there. Bill and I will miss him dearly but know he's in a better place now. We love you Uncle Clint.

Dear Aunt Pat, Patrick and Sherri,
You have been in my thoughts and prayers. Knowing Uncle Clint was such an honor, but most of all the way he welcomed my brother into his life. What a wonderful role model and mentor he was for you Patrick and your life is much richer in love, knowledge and closeness to Our Lord because of Sherri's precious aunt and uncle. Tom and I also benefited in knowing this wonderful couple, and being welcomed into the family. We have the fondest memories of Clint and will keep his presence in our hearts and prayers. We'll miss him on our visits to AZ but will never forget his wonderful sense of humor and his contagious laugh. Love to you all, Tom and Suzanne

We will always remember sending an email asking Uncle Clint if he and Aunt Pat would like to adopt us once we moved to Arizona. Clint returned our email stating that we were too old to adopt. However, once we arrived Clint said he reconsidered and we became a family. He took us into his heart and life and he became our Mentor, Friend and Father of our hearts. We are left with amazing memories and unconditional love shared. Everlasting Love, Pat & Sherri
