Daniel C. Franco, 76, of William St., died Thursday at his daughter’s home after a long illness surrounded by his family. He was the husband of the late Dolores M. (Camara) Franco.

Born in Fall River, MA, he was a son of the late Antone and Mariana (Costa) Franco; he lived in this city for most of his life. He was an avid sports fan.

He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving during the Korean Conflict.

Mr. Franco retired from Leman Brothers. He previously worked at the former O’Day Boat, Henry’s Tire Service for many years and the former Firestone Rubber Co.

He is survived by a daughter, Deborah and her husband Dana of Fall River; a son, Douglas D. Franco and his wife Susan of Fall River; three sisters, Bertha Fillion and Lorraine Franco, both of Fall River and Lillian Khoury of Swansea; five brothers, Manuel C. Franco, Charles C. Franco, Antone Franco Jr. and Ronald C. Franco, all of Fall River, Eugene C. Franco of Assonet; 3 granddaughters, Lt. Dawn Souza, U.S. Air Force stationed in Japan, Courtney Franco and Nicole Franco; many nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Adeline Franco.

His funeral will be held Monday at 8 a.m. from the OLIVEIRA FUNERAL HOME, 2064 South Main St., followed by a Funeral Mass at 9 a.m. in St. Anne’s Church. Interment in Notre Dame Cemetery. Calling hours Sunday 4-8 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his memory to Southcoast Hospital Group, Home Care, Hospice & Palliative Care and Infusion Services, Attn: Patient/Caregiver Needs, 200 Mill Rd.-Suite 120, Fairhaven, MA 02719.
