David William Cotten, Jr. passed away on November 1, 2025, in Batesville, MS, at the age of 66. Born on April 23, 1959, in Marks, MS, David lived a life marked by dedication, hard work, and an unwavering love for his family.
Memorial services for David will be held at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 5, 2025 in the Martin Willingham Memorial Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with the family receiving friends beginning at 4:00 prior to the service.
A skilled welder by trade, David took immense pride in his work, embodying the spirit of a jack of all trades. He was known for his ability to tinker and find solutions to various challenges, whether it was fixing something around the house or embarking on a new project. His interests also included hunting and fishing, which brought him great joy and provided opportunities to connect with nature.
David's personality was one of warmth and determination. He loved his family deeply and made every effort to be present in their lives. Even the challenges he faced, including his wheelchair, did not diminish his spirited approach to life—he embraced each day with vigor.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Robin Franks Cotten of Batesville, and his cherished children: Renee Pittman (Randy) of Lakeland, TN, David William Cotten, III (Deborah Lynn) of Batesville, Timothy Cameron Cotten (Dianna) of Sardis, and Renee Lowrey (Chuck) of Covington, TN. David was also a proud grandfather to 18 grandchildren: Chase, Jeremy, Rip III, Kiera, Kenny, Danielle, Jayda, Tristen "Clem," Chucky, Kaylee, Cameron, Hunter, Cleo, Letty, Blake, and Timothy, Jr., Willow, Sayler as well as three great-grandchildren: McKenzie, Loralii Ivy, and Bjorn Archer Allen.
David is also survived by his siblings: Sandra Griffis (Rod) of Southaven, James Cotten (Gina) of Charleston, Connie Tutor (the late Brian) of Batesville, and Barbara Holley (Chuck) also of Batesville, along with his mother, Eunice Cotten of Southaven, as well as many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, David William Cotten, Sr.; his son-in-law, Rip Pittman, II; and his great-granddaughter, Kehlani Holland.
David attended New Beginnings Church in Pope, where he found camaraderie and spiritual fulfillment among fellow congregants. His legacy is one of resilience, love, and unwavering dedication to those he held dear.
