Denton Lee Hargis, age 77, of Indianapolis, Indiana, formerly of Somerset, departed this life on Friday, June 19, 2015, in Indianapolis.
Mr. Hargis was born in the Elrod Community of Pulaski County, on March 23, 1938, to the late Noel and Daisy Prows Hargis. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. Being a devoted member of the Teamsters Union, Mr. Hargis worked in several warehouses before retiring in 1999. Mr. Hargis enjoyed the outdoors, going fishing, hunting and four-wheeling. He was of the Protestant Faith, being a member of the Church of God in Elrod.
He is survived by his wife, Lois Murray Hargis; their sons, Dennis (and Michael Ruther) Hargis, of Orlando, Florida, Joe Hargis, of Indianapolis, Indiana, and Darrel (and Tina) Hargis, of Plainfield, Illinois; daughter, Diana (and Bob) McCabe, of Lansing, Illinois; his siblings, Eddie B. (and Shirley) Hargis, Joann Bruin, Fayrene Price, Brenda Peel, and Linda Turner, all of Somerset; five grandchildren, Tim Gill, Amanda McCabe, Ethan Hargis, Daisy Hargis and Owen Hargis; two great-grandsons, Tim Gill, Jr. and A.J. Simmons; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be on Wednesday, June 24, 2015, from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m., at the Chapel of Lake Cumberland Funeral Home.
Mr. Hargis' funeral service will be held on Thursday, June 25, 2015, at 1:00 p.m., at the funeral home chapel with Rev. Will Brown officiating. Interment will be in Woodstock Cemetery. A Celebration of Life Dinner will be held after the interment, on Thursday, at Lee's Ford Harbor Restaurant, from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.
If you should wish, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, American Diabetic Association, National Kidney Foundation or the American Heart Association.
