On June 14th 1968 I was on a recon mission in Vietnam on a hill south of hill 861 we were searching for the 324th NVA division. We found them and were surrounded, a rescue chopper answered our call for extraction a CH 46, I was pinned down by automatic fire a gunner on the chopper eliminated the automatic fire I was able to get up and into the 46 the gunner was Donald W Vaughn. I wish to extend my deepest condolences and thanks . If he wasn't there then I wouldn't be here now.
