Donna Jane Pritchett Hase, 92, of Cornelius, NC passed peacefully into the loving arms of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on October 30, 2025. Donna’s kind, loving and adventurous spirit was infectious and appreciated by all who knew her or even met her for a moment.
Donna was born on October 7, 1933,in Jefferson City, MO, to the late Cora Faye VanMeter Pritchett and Oscar B. Pritchett. Spending her youth in Jefferson City, she spent many summers in Lewis County, Mo with her mother’s twelve brothers and sisters and their families. VanMeter cousins’ reunions were precious to Donna through the decades. After graduating from the University of Missouri, she taught elementary children in St Louis. She lived in Texas and Oklahoma while her husband Wes served in the Air Force. Later she moved to Nashville, TN where she raised her four sons and continued to teach. As an innovative adult education teacher, she used the newspaper to help adults learn to read and pass their GED. After seeing her three older sons off to college, she, Wes, and the youngest moved to St. Pete Beach, FL. She made her final home in Cornelius, NC. A devoted Christian, she raised four sons to love and serve the Lord. Like her father OB, Donna never met a stranger and befriended all who met her. She loved music of all kinds, playing the clarinet, oboe and piano and passed her musical passion on to her sons. She relished her friends at Mount Zion where she sang in their choir and enjoyed the Don Bridger Sunday School Class. An avid gardener and card player, she could be frequently found naming obscure plants and playing “Kings on the Corner” at Terra Bella senior living and “Sixty-five” with the family.
Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Wesley Elmer Hase; brother, James Darrell Pritchett; and grandson, Allen James Hase.
She is survived by sons Christopher Allen Hase, David James Hase, William Webster Hase, and Steven VanMeter Hase; daughters-in-law, Julie, Dorota, Polina, and Ashley; grandchildren, Jennifer, Elizabeth, Wesley, Shannon, Peter, Andrew, Michael, and Sasha; two great-grandchildren, Madeline and Michael, Jr.; brother, David Van Pritchett; sister-in-law Ellen; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews whom she dearly loved.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am, Saturday, November 8, 2025 at Mount Zion United Methodist Church, Cornelius with the interment and reception on the grounds to follow.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Mount Zion United Methodist Church, Appalachian Service Project.
