Earline Mullen Locke, affectionately known as Granny Locke Locke, was the youngest child born to Phillip and Alice Mullen in Freestone County, TX on September 6, 1936. Born into a deeply religious family, Earline accepted Christ at a very early age. Having moved to Dallas as a toddler, she attended Dallas public schools and later joined Warren Chapel AME where she served faithfully as a member of both the choir and usher board. One of her favorite songs was “I Won’t Complain” by Rev. Paul Jones.
Earline was a dedicated employee at Zale’s Jewelers for 25 years. She was a devoted and loving mother of 2 sons – Billy Myles, Jr. and Anthony Long. On March 25, 1985, Earline married Wilbert Locke and moved to Lubbock, TX. She became the owner and operator of Locke’s Day Care.
After Earline became ill, she and Wilbert moved from Lubbock to Houston with his daughter, Sherry, so that he would have help caring for his wife. They joined Time of Celebration Ministries Church and were faithful members. Earline was a part of the Women’s Ministry.
Her parents, most of her siblings, her oldest son, Billy Myles, Jr., and daughter-in-law, Gertrude Myles, preceded her in death.
She leaves to cherish her memory her devoted husband of 35 years, Wilbert Locke, two brothers: Herman Mullen and Leon Mullen (Janie), two brother-n-laws: O.C. Locke (Elgie) and Robert Locke, three sons: Roy Locke (Madean), Harvey Locke (Christine), Anthony Long (Katrina), four daughters: Kathy Locke Richardson (Larry), Sherry Locke, Donna Locke Washington, Denise Locke Richards (Fitzgerald), 16 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren and a host of family and friends.
