Groton - Edmond N. Fredsbo Jr., 68, of Groton, passed away peacefully Tuesday, July 9, 2013, at Fairview after a courageous battle with mesothelioma.

Ed recently retired from Electric Boat in Groton where he worked as a configuration management specialist for over 47 years.

Ed was born in Haverhill, Mass., on Nov. 27, 1944, to the late Edmond N. and Dorothy (Flynn) Fredsbo Sr. He married his beloved wife Mary Jo (Paige) on April 8, 1967 in Groton. She survives him along with his son, Scott Fredsbo and wife, Lisa (Mains), of Mystic; daughter, Melissa (Fredsbo) Morgan of Groton; two granddaughters, Ashley Morgan of Groton, and Emily Fredsbo of Mystic; and a sister, Gail Layne and husband, Carl, of Arkansas. He is also survived by his mother-in-law, Josephine Paige of Groton; his brother-in-laws, Arthur L. Paige and wife, Helen, of Amelia Island, Fla., Ralph W. Paige of Westerly and companion, Beverly Morrone, of Mystic, and David J. Paige and his wife, Janet, of Preston; an aunt, Eleanor (Flynn) Blinn of Massachusetts; and several cousins, nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his father-in-law, Arthur Paige.

A Memorial Service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 13, 2013, at Byles-Groton Memorial Home, 310 Thames St., Groton. Private burial will be held in the Colonel Ledyard Cemetery, Groton .

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of donor's choice.

To the Fredsbo Family . My thoughts are with you. Ed and I were friends in High School before I moved away. He was an amazing guy. So very sorry for your loss.

Sorry for you and your families loss.Ed and I were friends for many yrs through our time in school and hanging out at each others house and going to Eastern Point Beach and the fun time Bowling.I joined the military and lost contact with my buddy,Ive been trying find Ed for yrs,my loss my Friend you will be missed.
