Edna Stern

Edna Bassett Stern, loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, passed away peacefully of natural causes on February 15, 2016. Edna resided at the Twin Palms Private Senior Care facility in Chatsworth California. She was comforted with great dignity and compassion by Mission Hospice as she accepted God’s invitation to return home. Edna was 84 years of age.

Edna was born on July 18, 1931 in Brockton Massachusetts to the late William and Agnes Bassett. She was the fifth of five children, and the former wife of Richard F. Stern whom she married in 1952. They lived together in Brockton for 11 years before relocating to Los Angeles California in 1963.

Edna was preceded in death by her son: Richard F. Stern Jr. of Granada Hills California; her 3 brothers: William Francis (Frannie) Bassett; Robert Roger (Roger) Bessett; William Raymond (Billy) Bessette; and her sister Ruth Agnes Wetterholm; all of Brockton.

Edna is survived by her 3 daughters: Lynn Stern of Atlanta Georgia; Karen Stern of Atlanta Georgia; and Nancy Hardy of Reseda California; her 4 grandchildren: Christine Marie; Kimberly Ann; Kasey Michael; and Adam Bryce; and her great granddaughter: Bailey Sue.

A memorial service will be held on Wednesday February 24th, 2016 at 11:00 A.M. at the Mission Hills Catholic Mortuary Chapel, located at 11160 Stranwood Avenue in Mission Hills CA 91345. Edna will be laid to rest with her brother Roger at the adjoining San Fernando Mission Catholic Cemetery, also located at 11160 Stranwood Avenue in Mission Hills CA 91345. A reception will follow at the adjoining reception room.
