Eleanore G. Funk left us suddenly after a brief illness on February 7, 2018.  She is survived by her dear brother Howard (Kashiwa) Funk, loving aunt to Daniel (Keiko) and Sissy (Ben) Timmerman, and special aunt to Blake, Angela, Leslie, Mason and Kelley.  She was preceded in death by her father Howard, mother Gertrude and brother Jack Funk.
Eleanore retired from AT&T after 35 years, as a manager, quite an accomplishment for a woman at the time. Eleanore was also a realtor in the Schaumburg area for many years. She was extremely generous to many organizations. Eleanore served at Kalzer Home for Boys and Girls on the south side of Chicago. Eleanore was very proud to be a longtime volunteer at Little Sisters of the Poor, St. Joseph Home for the Elderly in Palatine and was President of the Auxiliary for many years. She developed special relationships with many of the sisters, residents and fellow volunteers. Eleanore will be missed by many including her friends at St. Hubert Catholic Church in Hoffman Estates where she was also very involved.
She will be remembered by all who were lucky enough to know her as one of the kindest and most generous souls they had ever met. She will finally be reunited with her “girls”, Katie and Kelly, along with many other pets that were fortunate enough to have her as their special “Mom”. No doubt the Rainbow Bridge was very crowded when Eleanore arrived.
The world will never be the same without her, she will truly be missed by all that loved her, especially her dear friend Patricia Jacobson and her “adopted” niece and nephew, Laura and Ted Werner.
Visitation Thursday from 3 to 8 PM at Ahlgrim & Sons Funeral and Cremation Services, 330 W. Golf Road, Schaumburg. Funeral prayers Friday 9:15 AM at the funeral home to St. Hubert Catholic Church, 729 Grand Canyon St., Hoffman Estates. Mass 10 AM. Interment St. Michael the Archangel Cemetery, Palatine. In lieu of flowers, memorials will be appreciated to Little Sisters of the Poor, 80 W. Northwest Highway, Palatine, IL 60067, or The Buddy Foundation, 65 Seegers Road, Arlington Heights, IL 60005. Elanore came to see me in New York when I played Madison Square Garden with the Ice Capades. She also came when I played the Chicago Stadium.
My dad worked with her at ATT for many years and valued working with her.
Elanore was my real estate agent twice!
I always enjoyed talking with and seeing her.
To her family, I am very sorry to hear of her passing and I am so sorry for your loss.

We have been neighbors with Eleanore over the past 34 years. My husband being a paramedic and Fire Fighter had help Eleanore with Gertrude her mother on occasion when Eleanor needed it. We loved both them, and felt very privileged to have had them as neighbors. Eleanor will truly be missed, she was a very kind hearted person who had a contagious laugh and smile. She always had a kind word and extremely gently spirit. She loved sharing how much she enjoyed every minute she spent with her BFF...

Eleanore was a friend who always listened to my problems and worries each Saturday at the 4:30 mass at St. Hubert. I will miss her welcoming smile and support. She made a difference in my life. I am a better person for having known her.
