ELLEN M. KANTROSKI (NEE HAJEK AND GULLIKSON) LAKE ZURICH, IL
The visitation for Ellen M. Kantroski (nee Hajek and Gullikson), age 61 of Lake Zurich, IL, will be held from 3:00-9:00 p.m., Tuesday, February 1, 2011 at Davenport Family Funeral Home, 149 W. Main Street (Lake Cook Road), Barrington IL. Services will be on Wednesday, February 2, with visitation at 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at 11:00 a.m. at the Presbyterian Church of Barrington, 6 S. Brinker Road, Barrington Hills, and will proceed to Bohemian National Cemetery in Chicago. Born on June 26, 1949 in Berwyn IL, Ellen is survived by her husband, Lawrence A. Kantroski of Gary IN; her parents: Elmer and Marjorie Hajek of Hinsdale; her daughter, Lauren (Nin) Assi (nee Gullikson); her brother, Philip (Donna) Hajek MD; newphew, Daniel Hajek; aunt, Camille Marek; cousins: Lynn Groske, Karen Miller and Sarah Lay; in-laws: Rita (David) Rodriguez, Mary Ellen (Fred) Grabski and Jay (Janet) Kantroski; and her two beloved grandchildren: Alexis and Luke Assi. Ellen graduated Hinsdale Central High School in 1971, obtained her degree in special education from Illinois State University and a masters degree from Concordia University. She was an educator in District 96 for over 30 years. She was also a member of Barrington Presbyterian Women and involved with Stephan Ministry. Ellen passed surrounded by her family on January 29, 2011 at Lutheran General Hospital. We will miss Ellen. We did not know her for a long time, but all the times we were together, it was as though we were longtime friends. She always had a way of making those around her so comfortable. Ellen had a wonderful smile and was so kind and generous. We know how much she loved you, Larry, and we will keep both of you in our thoughts and prayers. Dennis and Trish Crane

She was my kindergarten teacher at Kildeer and a co-worker several years ago at Country Meadows and will always hold a special place in my heart.
