Emily J. Mendez, 20, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Sunday, June 9, 2013 surrounded by her loving family at Baylor University Hospital in Dallas, Texas. She was born on July 8, 1992 in Midland, Texas to Hilda Munoz and Dean Mendez. She had been attending Premier High School before her illness. Emily had been battling Leukemia since September 2012.
Emily was an out-going, out-spoken, charismatic, and loving person. She was very protective of her family, especially with her brothers. Emily was a very responsible person with lots of faith. She enjoyed pampering herself, listening to music and shopping. She was of the Catholic faith.
Emily was preceded in death by her grandfathers, Jesus Diaz Munoz and Raul Mendez. She is survived by her family; parents, Hilda Munoz and step-father Delmar Carrasco of Midland, Texas and Dean Mendez and step-mother Staci of Austin, Texas; brothers, Jehovani Amaya and Omar Munoz Carrasco both of Midland, Texas and Cameron Mendez of Austin, Texas; step-brothers, Jordan Delmar Carrasco and Jonathan Carrasco both of Odessa, Texas; step-sisters, Destiny Carrasco of Midland, Texas and Brianna Carrasco of Corpus Christi, Texas; her sister, Chloe Mendez of Austin, Texas; her grandmothers, Emilia Hernandez Munoz and Rosa Elia Mendez; her step-grandfather, Juan Urias Carrasco and the love of her life, Marino Bravo; numerous uncles, aunts, and cousins.
Rosary will be held Friday, June 14, 2013 at 7:00 PM at Lewallen-Garcia-Pipkin Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral mass is set for Saturday, June 15, 2013 at 11:00 AM at St. Stephen's Catholic Church with Father David Herrera officiating. Interment will follow to Serenity Memorial Gardens.

My heart was broken into pieces when I heard the news about Emily's passing. I pray the Lord gives you comfort as only He can. Emily was such a sweet girl and I will forever miss her beautiful hands, her gorgeous hair and her lovely smile. It was a blessing to have had her in my life.
