Anderson, Erika Straumer
Erika Straumer Anderson, 86, of Scottsdale, Arizona, went to live with her Heavenly Father on December 30, 2012. She was born on June 18, 1926 to Johannes F. W. Straumer and Bertha Elise Grosnick in Danzig-Langfuhr, Free City of Danzig. She will be greatly missed by all. As a child growing up she lived in Danzig, Bamberg, Germany and Vienna, Austria before immigrating to the United States in June 1950. She married A Le Roy Anderson on February 12, 1951 in the Logan Utah Temple. They had first met in Vienna, Austria after World War II. Following their honeymoon in Arizona, the couple moved to Phoenix in the summer of 1951 where they started a family and later built a house in Scottsdale. Erika was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She will always be remembered for her kindness and thoughtfulness towards others as well as her loving prayers for everyone. She had many skills and talents including her artistic abilities, culinary creations, and mending miracles. She had a great appreciation for classical music and the arts, and in her later years became an accomplished painter. Erika was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She is preceded in death by her parents, her brother Hans Joachim, and her son, Baby Boy. She is survived by her loving husband of nearly 62 years, her sister, Brigitta Clyde, of Logan, her two sons, Erik (Patty) and Allen (Janet), her daughters, Monica, Britta (Henry) Ortega, Tamara (Robert) Hartrick, Jacqueline (Richard) Kelly, and Teresa (Peter) Davey; grandchildren, Michelle Burton, Kris, Andre, James, Elise, and Richard Anderson, Alicia (Stephen Vital) Ortega, Michael Sean (Staci) Ortega, Natasha, Krista (Nick), and Rebecca Hartrick, Dallin Kelly, and Thomas and Brooke Davey; great-grandchildren, Noah Burton, Angelica Vital, Brody Ortega, and Kyra Hartrick. Visitation is scheduled for 11:00 a.m. Thursday, January 3, 2013, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 2202 N. 74th Street, Scottsdale, Arizona 85257. Funeral services will follow at 12:00 p.m. (Noon). www.greenacresmortuary.net
