STAUDENMAYER, Ernest William, 85, of Richmond, widower of Frances Carolyn Staudenmayer, passed away on Tuesday, March 10, 2009. He is survived by his daughters, Susan J. Mason and her husband, Gordon, of Toms River, N.J., Lou Ann Cahill and her husband, Patrick, of Seaford, Va. and Donna Layton and her husband, Wayne, of Richmond; sons, Roy Allen Staudenmayer of Richmond and Kurt Staudenmayer and his wife, Mona, of Aylett, Va..; a brother, Paul Staudenmayer and his wife, Doris, of Glendale, Pa.; nine grandchildren, two great-grandchildren. Ernest served in the US Navy while earning his B.S. Degree from Northwestern University. He was a successful businessman, who became President of Southern Special Products before his retirement at age 55. He was a baseball sports enthusiast, a collector of baseball autographs and personally met Babe Ruth. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed ownership in horse racing. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday, March 12, 2009 at the Parham Chapel, Woody Funeral Home, 1771 N. Parham Rd., where a celebration of Ernest's life will be held 11 a.m. Friday, March 13, 2009. Burial will follow at Greenwood Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Red Cross Greater Richmond Chapter, 420 E. Cary Street, Richmond, Va. 23219. Condolences may be registered online www.mem.com.
