Not sure what to say?

I read in some of the entries here about how the my Aunt made such a welcoming home. As one of the younger cousins in the family, I remember many good times and the elation we felt when my mom would say we were all going to Aunt Vannie's house. She was always smiling, greeting with hugs-- and knew everybody's name! (Which is something I still have a issues with.) I also remember the grace she displayed in the face of the controlled craziness of dozens of cousins of all ages desending on her...

May your hearts soon be filled with wonderful memories of joyful times together as you celebrate a life well lived.

My thoughts and prayers to the entire Schopf family...May she rest in peace...

Your mom will always be in my memory as a very active, hard working woman that lived life to the fullest. Our street was so full of chidren playing, laughing, and making lifetime memories with your house and mom at the heart of it all! We will always remember the warmth, kindness, and energy that was your mother. We were all blessed and grew up with an American storybook childhood with the help of both your parents. What a powerhouse of a woman. Love, Betty Hicks-Hall

One of my fondest memories from childhood, is that of my brother Tim and I, and all of the kids on North University street, playing in the yards, on the sidewalks, and the street, and Van always keeping a watchfull eye on all of us from her kitchen window. The block parties in the summer with the adults dancing on the patio in Ed and Vans back yard, and so much more. The last time I saw Van, was at my mothers funeral service, in August of 1992. They were best of friends back in the 1950's...

Hi Greg,
So very sorry to learn of your mom's passing...I so remember my weekly meetings with Fr. Oddo and your mom's bright smile and welcoming way about her. We'd share some hearty laughs and your mom, Rose Marie and I would get going sometimes we'd forget ourselves and have to close the doors we got so loud! What a tremendous presence she was on campus. I looked forward to seeing her everytime I came back from Tahoe where I'd relocated, and stop by Fr. Tyson's office to get caught up on...

Dear Schopf Family:

Van is a treasure of the heart and to lose her is like losing a piece of yourself. But the love that Van brought you.......did not leave, for the essence of her soul lingers. It cannot escape your heart, for it has been there forever. Cling to the memories of her and let them find their way to heal you. The love and laughter, the joy in the togetherness you shared......will make you stronger. You'll come to realize that your time together, no matter how long, was...

My prayers and condolences to Vannie's family. She was a wonderful lady and will be missed.

My thoughts and prayers are with all of our dear friends the Schopf's.
