Evelyn Mae Hyde

Evelyn Mae Howerton Hyde, affectionately known to her family as Gran, joined the Lord on Monday, February 19, 2018. She was born in Sanger, Texas to A.C. and Jewel Mae Howerton. The family moved to Fort Worth in 1929 when her father joined the Fort Worth Police Department. She was raised in Fort Worth and graduated from Polytechnic High School.

Following graduation, Evelyn met the love of her life, Roy Jeff Hyde. They were married at Polytechnic Baptist Church on January 22, 1943. She was a devoted and loving wife to Roy and they worked side by side in their various businesses. They were blessed with three daughters, Haven, Debby and Cissy. While taking care of their children and working with Roy, she also found time to serve as PTA President at Oaklawn Elementary School. Evelyn and Roy bought a farm in Tate Springs that provided many happy memories for family and friends. Even though Evelyn traveled all fifty states and numerous foreign countries, her real joy was her family. She was blessed with seven grandchildren and to have know eight great grandchildren.

Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents, A.C. and Jewel Mae Howerton; her brother, Chester Warren Howerton; her sister, Helen Margaret Howerton Neher; her husband, Roy Jeff Hyde; and her son in law, Don Alan Neill. She is survived by her three daughters, Haven Gale Hyde Johnson and her husband, Lloyd; Debby Lynn Hyde Cresswell and her husband, Ronald R.; Helen Margaret "Cissy" Hyde Neill; her "adopted" daughter, Susan Anderson Bradford; her seven grandchildren; Logan Edward Johnson and his wife, Liberty; Cord Davis Johnson and his wife, Sunny; Jordan Hyde Neill Garrett and her husband, Bradley; Adam Barrett Webb; Taylor Neill Barker and her husband, Adam; Samantha Caitlin Webb Wynne and her husband, Beau; Maddison Parke Neill; her nine great grandchildren; Brayden Matthew Barker, Riley Tate Barker, Caden Hendrix Wynne, Jacie Mae Johnson, Jackson "Jack" Neill Garrett, Evelyn Caroline Garrett, Presley Mae Wynne, Charlie Kate Johnson and to born in June, Kennedy Austin Barker; and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 23, 2018 in the chapel at Moore Bowen Road Funeral Home, 4216 South Bowen Road, Arlington, Texas 76016. Visitation will begin at 9:00am, and the service will be held at 10:00am. Graveside service will be held at Moore Memorial Gardens, 1219 N Davis Drive, Arlington, Texas 76012, at 11:30am.
