Evelyn Eugena Parrish Slades, 86, our loving Mother, Grandmother and friend went home to her beloved Jesus Christ today, Dec. 17. She is at the home she always dreamed of.
She was born in Chowan County, a daughter of the late Cora McClenny Parrish and John Parrish and was married to the late C. W. Slades Sr. A Charter member of Faith Pentecostal Holiness Church for 30 years, she served faithfully as a Deaconess. She loved her church and missed very few times attending services. She was retired from the Edenton Cotton Mill where she was a spinner and became a homemaker after leaving that job.
Mrs. Slades is survived by a daughter, Wanda Kay Slades Dennison and her husband, Ernie, of Jarvisburg; two sons, Woodrow Slades Jr, of Tyner and Michael Slades and his wife, Connie, of Edenton; one brother, Marvin Eugene Parrish and his wife, Annette, of Edenton; four grandchildren, Mary Elizabeth (Betsy) Slades, Misty Biggs, Jessica Slades and Brett Dennison; and one great- granddaughter, Juliana Slades. Other than her husband, she was preceded in death by a brother.
A Celebration of her life will be at 2:30 p.m., Sunday, Dec. 19, at Faith Pentecostal Church, with Rev. Danny Gurganus officiating. Friends may join the family at 6:00 to 7:30, Saturday, Dec. 18, at the funeral home and other times at the residence at 322 Sandy Ridge Road, Edenton. Burial will follow in Beaver Hill Cemetery.
