RIDDICK, Flora Lina Haden, 89, of Richmond, Va., passed away on September 11, 2011. She was one of six children born to the late Samuel Davis Haden and Mary Virginia Haden. She was preceded in death by her husband, George P. Riddick Jr.; and one son, Donald Haden Riddick. She is survived by her daughter, Rebecca Riddick Lane (Tom) of Quinton; her two sons, George P. Riddick III of Ashland and Robert Burwell Riddick (Rhonda) of Richmond; her daughter-in-law, Tracye Beard Riddick; her sister, Jane Haden Waits; 10 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. Mrs. Riddick worked with her husband at Riddick Advertising Art, which was founded in 1968. She was a member of Seventh Street Christian Church for many years, and recently became an active member of Colonial Place Christian Church. She was a member of the Nautigals, the Women's Auxiliary of the Richmond Power Squadron, for over 20 years. Flora was a devoted mother and grandmother who was known for her kindness, her generosity, and her famous brownies. Her remains rest at the West Chapel of Bennett Funeral Home, 11020 W. Broad Street, where the family will receive friends from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, September 15. The funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Friday, September 16, at Colonial Place Christian Church. Interment in Westhampton Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Colonial Place Christian Church, P.O. Box 70340, Richmond, Va. 23255 or the charity of your choice.

I have always been impressed by Flora's remarkable combination of penetrating intelligence, warmth, good humor, and generosity of spirit. In my mind's eye, I always thought of Flora as having "a twinkle in her eyes." She was truly a good and decent soul, and I know she will be missed.

Flora was a true lady in every sense of the word. Her smile was beautiful and she had a deep respect for all people. I will always cherish the memory of her sharing the booklets, cards and drawings her husband sent to her during WWII. His art work was delightful and she allowed me to copy them and make a display for our Veterans Day program that year. It was wonderful and she was proud yet humble about the whole display. So sorry to hear about Aunt Flora. She was such a wonderful and caring person, who will be greatly missed. You all are in my prayers.
