Florence Farcas Obituary

F. Dianna Farcas Florence "Dianna" Farcas passed away unexpectedly Friday, June 29, 2007. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. EDT Friday, July 6, 2007, at Culley's MeadowWood Funeral Home, Timberlane Road Chapel (850-893-4177). The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. EDT Thursday at the funeral home. The family requests that in lieu of flowers memorial contributions be made to the FSU Foundation, 225 University Center Building C, Suite 3100, Tallahassee, FL 32306. Dianna was born in Bermuda but called Tallahassee home for the past 44 years. Dianna had devoted the last 35 years of her life to Florida State University from which she retired from last August. She spent every minute of her retirement with her grandchildren, who always brightened her day. She lived her life for her grandkids. Her favorite pastime was shopping every weekend for "prizes" to surprise her grandkids with. Dianna always had a smile on her face and love in her heart. Her children and grandchildren miss her dearly. She is survived by her sister, Barbara Lovell of Bermuda, and her cousin, Helen Redman, also of Bermuda, and their respective families. She cherished most her two children, David Roy Farcas Jr. (and wife Chanda) and Dana Renee Farcas, both of Tallahassee. Dianna "Granny" was also the grandmother of 3 wonderful grandchildren, David Ryan Farcas, Kaylee Dianna Jones and Ava Rose Farcas, whom she carried in her heart every day. She was preceded in death by her mother, Gladys Ismay Lewis, and her father, Sidney Earl Lewis.

We can hardly believe that it's been almost two years since you left this earth. Our hearts still ache for your advice, kind words and your grand HUGS!!!!!! Your grandchildren are growing up so quickly but we know that you are with them everyday. Their little hearts still ache as well. Please continue to be our guardian angel and watch over all of us. We miss you so much and think of you each and every day. You always were a giver and never expected anything in return. Such a loving and warm heart. We miss you but we know that we will see you again someday.

Granny,
Here we are at another year without your smiling face at our dinner table for the holidays. I miss the way you always had a coy little look in your eyes like you had the funniest secret to tell. Things are still hard for us but we know we have a guardian angel looking out for us. David saw a bright star in the sky the other night and said it was you telling us that eveything would be okay. We love and miss you. I can barely look at all your old Christmas decorations without shedding a tear. Please continue to watch over all of us. We love you!

Dianna,
There isn't a day that goes by that we dont think about you. I miss our Saturday lunches where we would spend an hour or two talking about anything and everything. And seeing that twinkle in your eye when you could spend time with your grandkids. It is little moments like that I miss so much. All the pomp and circumstance you would go through for the kids at Christmas. Buying their gifts 9 months in advance. Your life was spent thinking about others. As buddha once said: Neither fire nor wind, birth nor death can erase our good deeds. We love and miss you.

It's been a year since the departure of good friend Dianna. Seems like a short period (in some ways) and seems like a decade (in some other ways). She was Pam's best friend (female friend, that is) and was very loyal to her friends and family. There were very few people with the kind heart that contained all of the "goodness" that Dianna had. The good times during our travels to Jamaica, Bermuda, Helen (GA), and St. George Island will always be remembered. Homer & Yvonne

Granny Farcas,
We are coming up on a year already and we cannot believe it. We have grown stronger and closer as a family and we know this is because of you. All the miracles that have happened to us are a sign of your love for us. It's been a long, hard and emotional rollercoaster for us but we pray everyday that you continue to watch over us and the children. We love you so much and miss you terribly as if it were yesterday. We can still hear your little giggle and see the coy little wink in your twinkling eyes when you mentioned your "grandchildren". Hopefully you are gazing at those beautiful blue waters of Bermuda and thinking of us. We Love you!

April 30, 2008

Granny,
We wanted to wish you a Happy birthday in Heaven. We know you will be with us here in spirit. The kids want to make you something for your birthday. Please continue to watch over us and keep us safe. We miss you so much and cant believe that you are gone only from this earth but not from our hearts.
We love you,

Mom,
We finally got your marker down and we hope so much that you like what we picked out for you. We feel your presence everyday and know that you are watching over us. We still wish you were here with us watching the kids grow and enjoying life as you did. You never complained about anything so we never knew the pain you felt. You now have a new heart that will never be broken or cause you pain again. We will see you in Heaven someday!
Love,

In My Pocket

I have memories in my pocket.
They rattle among the change.

My memories of you are treasures I carry wherever I go.

They are stored in bits and pieces, parts of a beautiful whole
They give me comfort when I think I am alone.

Yes, I have memories in my pocket, like so much other stuff I keep there.

But of all the treasures I have, it’s the memories of you that are the most precious.

Granny,
This will be our first Christmas without you. We miss you so much. You are in our every thought and prayer. On the way home last night it was a beautiful full moon and we saw one solumn star hanging there in the sky. I told the kids that it was you letting us know that you were doing good. We all miss you terribly but we know you will be with us in spirit. As David Ryan always tells me we carry you within our hearts everywhere we go. We love you so much. Please be with us so that we can enjoy the Holidays.
We love you!

Granny,
As you know this family has had more heartache than happiness as of late. We hope that you will be with us every step we take and help us to be strong and get through all this. The Holidays wont be the same with out you. Our hearts are still broken but slowly beginning to mend as you would want them to. We miss you and love you so much.

Well the holidays are quickly approaching, our first ones without you. Last night I drove past your house after playing softball and it was strange that there were no lights on. Kaylee has bonded with our neighbor Mrs. Sue because she sees your heart and mannerisms in her. We love you and miss you!

Granny,
Our sorrow is still heavy within our hearts. But we know you are in such a better place watching over all of us. We were in a restaurant a few weeks ago and i smelled your perfume, i quickly looked to see if it was you. It just made me cry to know that we dont have you here with us anymore. The kids miss your awesome hugs and Ava misses her granny rocking her to sleep.David misses you but he told me he knew you were with Jesus. But we know you are within us and our children and will be with us forever.
We love you,

Mom,
I miss our Sunday dinners and I miss you! Kaylee thinks of you often saying that she still has a broken heart. I tell her that you are mending her heart as everyday passes! Watch over her and be her guardian angel. I love you Mom!

Dianna,
We cannot believe that time has passed so quickly and you have been gone for a month. We hope you are enjoying your new wings and that you are watching over us with every step we take. We often hear Ava in her room at night giggling and we know you are in there with her tickling her like you used to do. We love you and miss you so much granny.

Dianna's Precious Family,

Let your hearts be filled with wonderful memories and joyous times you spent with your mother. Take comfort in knowing you have a guardian angel watching over you.

I valued my friendship with Dianna. She was a genuinely kind hearted and thoughtful person. She was very special and will be sorely missed.

Everything in the world is about to be wrapped up, so take nothing for granted. Stay wide-awake in prayer. Most of all, love each other as if your life depended on it. Love makes up for practically anything. ~1 Peter 4:7-8~

David and Dana and your families,
Words cannot describe the emptiness and sadness we feel in the loss of Aunt Dianne. We had so many memorable times and good laughs down in Florida when she visited us and my parents at the condo. David and Dana, you and your children were her pride and joy. I know that no words can take the pain away at this time but may you find comfort and peace in cherished memories of your mom. Lots for love from Derek, Donna, Danielle & Stacey

No one ever had a better friend than Dianna. Her twinkling eyes and ready laugh, her non-judgmental attitude, her caring nature -- she was always fun to be with, and kind (in a candid way, of course). You knew that, whatever happened, she "had your back". She leaves a big hole in the lives of those of us who were fortunate enough to call her "friend", but also a warm spot in our hearts and a memory we can draw on for a long time.

She loved her friends, and we know it; even more, she loved her family -- and I hope they realize how much, too.

To the Family of Diana Farcas... Life was a little brighter for us because of Diana's smile... We shared our days with her, and came away with an upbeat memory, every time... May the treasures of your heart be with you always, may the memory of Diana's love for you warm your path as you lead your young ones, and pass on the wisdom and love of life of your mother, your sister, your Granny...
