Francis J. Stachelek, 87
CLINTON - Francis J. Stachelek, 87, died Tuesday, June 6, 2017, from congestive heart failure, following several years of declining health. He will be missed by many.
He leaves his loving companion of the last 25 years, Nancy A. Oja, and her two daughters, Stacey Sakkinen, and her husband, Andrew, of Keene, NH, and Kristen Fox and her husband, Kenneth, of Lancaster; a brother, Aloisius Stachelek, of Framingham; a niece, Barbara; and a nephew, Paul Stachelek, and his wife, Donna, of Shirley; and many cousins. One sister, Bernice R. Stachelek, predeceased him.
Frank was born and raised in Clinton, son of the late Joseph F. and Bernice M. (Parzych) Stachelek. He was a graduate of Clinton High School, Class of 1947, and a US Army Veteran of the Korean War Era, serving in Wurzburg, Germany, as a trumpet player in the 31st and 61st Army Bands, entertaining the Officers and his fellow Troops. Following his service, he was honorably discharged with the rank of Corporal, and received the Good Conduct Medal.
Upon his return home, Frank worked as a Meat Cutter in various area markets. He was a member of the former Our Lady of Jasna Gora Church.
A talented musician, Frank's past-times included having jam sessions with his fellow musicians, enjoying big band music, and listening to Harry James, fishing at the Wachusett Reservoir, reading, and watching the Patriots and Red Sox. He loved taking long car rides, and going for long walks with Nancy, listening to classical music, and watching concerts in the evening.
Frank enjoyed discussing the Red Sox with his cousin, Francine Lipka, of CT, and he received many cards and gifts from both Francine, and Nancy's cousin, Ann Slater, of VA. In addition, he liked chatting with his nephew, Paul, about fishing.
Frank's loved ones would like to thank the Salmon VNA Hospice for their extreme kindness, in keeping Frank comfortable; among them, Breanna, Brenda, Adele, and his social worker, Kristy. Also, his Primary Care Physician, Dr. Mark Hryniewich, for his special care and attention during Frank's last days; his wonderful neighbors, Andrew Stephens, and Carl and Debbie Bruso, who always checked in on him; and former neighbor and good friend, Marc Iacobucci. A special thank you is extended to Frank's dear friend, Linda Garvey, for all of her support and help during the difficult times.
Frank's funeral service and burial will be private. There are no calling hours. McNally & Watson Funeral Home, 304 Church St., is directing arrangements.
