Habing Family Funeral Home Obituary

In memory of our loving and caring mother, Genevieve, who peacefully passed away on Sunday, February 1, 2015. Born, raised and schooled in San Francisco, an only girl among three brothers, Genevieve led an active and athletic girlhood. After graduating from Immaculate Conception Academy and employment in San Francisco she married Gilroy dairyman Peter Blaettler in 1944 at the Carmel Mission. They lived at the Blaettler Dairy until building a new home farther up Day Road in 1952. Raising their seven children, Genevieve was active in their schooling at St Mary, involved with the parish church and a booster of the Gilroy Gators Swim Club.

Upon the early death of her husband in 1976, Genevieve lived in a variety of fascinating locations until her retirement at the Forum in Cupertino in 2005. Throughout her life she enjoyed her grandchildren, traveling to numerous parts of the world, managing real estate investments and following the Giants. She was well read and up with the latest news & fashion.

She was always committed and involved in the parishes she lived in, giving of her time and energy. Friendly and interested in others, Genevieve was a delight to people. She was famous for her quick wit and delighted us all with her funny comments.

She is preceeded in death by her parents, Charles and Jean White, her husband, Peter Blaettler, her brothers Charles White and Robert White, and her grandson Sean Blaettler. She is survived by her brother Ray White (Joan), her sister-in-law Eileen White McHugh, her children Dan Blaettler, Fr. James Blaettler, S.J., Bonnie Kahl, John Blaettler (Lee), Mary Blaettler, Diane Blaettler and Peter Blaettler (Rebecca) and her grandkids, Austin Kahl, Adriana Kahl, Genevieve Blaettler, Morgan Blaettler, Emily Blaettler, and Audrey Blaettler.

Memorial Mass 11:00 am, Friday, February 6, 2015 at St. Mary Catholic Church. Burial to follow at St. Mary Cemetery.

In Lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Peter & Genevieve Blaettler Family Fund for St. Mary School at the Gilroy Foundation, P.O. Box 774, Gilroy, CA 95021.

To the cousins and Blaettler family very sorry for your lost off your Mom, our Aunt Genevieve. Lots of great memories that we will cherish forever. The ranch, and in the old days driving to the ranch took forever, are we there yet kept going on and on. She did enjoy life and was truly a wonderful Aunt, and a fun traveling partner.

John, Mary and all the family. We are so sorry to hear of your mom's passing. I have so many wonderful memories of spending time in your childhood home through the years. Your mom was a loving, funny, woman who always made me feel welcome and valued. We were all interconnected through our parents' life-long friendship. I send heartfelt condolences from our family to yours for the loss of your beautiful mother.

I am so sorry for my Blaettler family at the loss of your mom and my aunt. My memories of the summer days we spent at the ranch will ALWAYS hold a special place in my heart, especially the kindness of your parents. And of course, Sargent Pepper as well as the late August smell of hay and the joy of "cardboarding down the hill". Aunt Jean and Uncle Peter were loved beyond measure. They are together again, forever.

Sorry to hear of your Mom's passing. In the 40's 50's I had good time at the Dairy, in the Pool, and Learning from Pete _ Your family Gave me my First Heifer Calf in 52 _ Good Memories!
