George was born on February 27, 1928 and passed away on Saturday, March 10, 2018. George was a resident of Connecticut at the time of passing.
He was my landlord, he was kind, thoughtful, very smart and one of the best academicians I have ever known. He was alot more than a landlord to me, he was like my uncle who cared about my well being. When I look back, I feel like I spent my best years to live under same roof with him. I loved talking to him, listen to him, shovel snow with him. Rest in peace dear Prof. Rawitscher.

It is with enormous sorrow that I note the passing of Professor Rawitscher. He was a member of my Ph.D. advisory committee at UConn. I completed that degree at the National Bureau of Standards in Maryland in 1971. Subsequently we had numerous opportunities to visit at conferences and at my visits to UConn.
